In this video, I will be taking you guys along the journey of my trying out a traditional Yoruba hairstyle, starting from the process of purchasing the materials needed for the style, washing, condition, and detangling my hair using the naturally curly brush in preparation for the irun kiko style! The irun kiko style is a traditional hairstyle of the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria and is used to style, protect, and stretch the hair. Many different groups of people all over Africa do some variation of this hairstyle as well. It can be done with rubber, with wool, with brazilian wool, and can take on many different shapes and styles. This video tells a little bit about African hair threading history and shows how you can use this style for growth, to stretch natural 4c hair without heat, or as just a style! I hope you guys enjoy coming along this journey with me!
