Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards 2022

11th May 2022 – A milestone for the Tourism Authority and the Sustainable Island Mauritius, which hosted the first edition of the Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards 2022; recognising the efforts of organisations from the tourism and hospitality sector that have successfully integrated sustainability into their business and investment decisions. The awards aimed to recognise those businesses that have been able to fast-track their sustainability strategies even during the pandemic and strive for excellence in sustainable development. We were honoured to have H.E. Mr Vincent Degert, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Mauritius and to the Republic of Seychelles as Chief Guest.

The awards wouldn’t have been a success without the help of our partners and sponsors; European Union, Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) and Made In Moris for their continuous support in our sustainability journey, the MTPA, MariDeal, Mauritius Standard Bureau, Leal Energie and Torqeedo for their wonderful contribution to the winners of the awards, the Island Food Revolution, Takamaka Winery and E.C Oxenham for enabling us to introduce and showcase 100% locally sourced products throughout the evening and not to forget the meticulously elaborated menu by the Executive Chef Ravi. We also extend our appreciation to Mr. Jon Burtenshaw from Beau Design Ltd, who created the emblematic trophies made from reclaimed wood, collected from his woodworking shop, hotel construction sites and colonial buildings.

We hope that these awards will encourage businesses to continuously improve, it is no longer an option for any organisation wanting to succeed to stay out of the game and ignore its impact on the planet. Once again, we extend our warmest congratulations to all winners and runners-up with the hope of seeing a second edition next year!
