Background: On December 31st, 2019, the People’s Republic of China notified the World Health Organisation (WHO) of an outbreak of a Pneumonia causing illness that was later confirmed to be caused by the novel Corona Virus (COVID-19). On 11th March 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak was declared a pandemic by the W.H.O with spread to all continents.

The pandemic has affected different regions at varying rates causing enormous health, economic, and social impact around the world. As of 13th April 2020 the total number of confirmed cases has reached 1,859,011 in over 185 countries and territories causing 114,979 deaths.

Overall, an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases continues to be reported in various countries with no indication that the peak of the outbreak has been reached. Europe remains the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. With just 2% of Air traffic stopping in Africa, the outbreak took time to gain a foothold but the continent has so far confirmed 9,663 and 461 deaths with numbers expected to increase as the outbreak progresses.

Established in 2013, The Uganda UK Health Alliance (UUKHA) is a collaboration between the UK and Ministry of Health, Uganda to support UK derived programs in the Health Sector whilst fostering shared learning between the two health systems.

UUKHA recognises that UK and Uganda are experiencing the outbreak of COVID-19 at different extents and stages of the outbreak. For instance, the UK has so far confirmed

There is, therefore, an opportunity for Institutions and individuals at the forefront of the outbreak to share knowledge and collaborative support in addressing the COVID 19 in Uganda and the UK.

The Uganda UK Health Alliance Webinar on COVID 19.
To facilitate shared learning between the UK and Uganda on the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Alliance has organised a 2 hour Webinar where Experts from Uganda and the UK shall share experiences and knowledge on collective measures to address the Outbreak.

The Webinar was held on 23rd April 2020 15:00-17:00 EAT (13:00-15:00 BST).
