Today we’ll take a look at the countries with the highest budgets assigned as of 2023. WE WILL PICK ONE FROM EACH OF THE FOUR DIVIDES OF AFRICA WHICH IS,NORTH,SOUTH, EAST AND WESTERN AFRICA. A budget takes in to account many aspects in it all in which can be used to rank the capabilities and strengths of a country. It covers all necessary fields which include but not limited to security, health, infrastructure and education all at a national level.
OUR LIST begins with east Africa. East Africa has of late gained a huge space in the world ranks in terms of its rapid growth and the huge stability strides its taking.
Kenya had the highest budget tabled and this comes as no surprise considering the economic capabilities of this country. The budget was capped at $26.4 billion which is $8 billion more than Tanzania which holds second position for the region. Some of the essential sectors that took the highest share of the lump sum were education $43.6 million, energy infrastructure and -ICT- $33 million, health and security both with a combined total of 19.1 million. Judging from the numbers, the country has put more focus into education and technology which unarguably is a recipe for growth in the coming times.
Next we take a look at west Africa which is a region with diverse culture and systems. In this region, Nigeria takes the first place. The president, muhammadu Buhari signed a budget of $47.39 billion.
Security was assigned a total of $6.47 billion.
Onto north Africa, Algeria had the highest budget for 2022,2023 was at a rounded total of $111 billion which is fairly close to that of Algeria at $100 billion. the finance minister Mohamed maait stated that as per the budget, the government aim is to improve citizen’s way of living all-round.
Last on the list is the southern part of Africa. South Africa leads this region. It is essential to note that this country was at the top list of the most competitive economies in Africa. The total expenditure for 2022 was planned at $122 billion with most of it targeted to learning and culture, social development, peace and security and economic development.
