The Anonymous Society with Fred Magee
Corporate technology consultant Fred Magee speaks about the existing and potential future consequences of online anonymity. Magee argues that “human nature and human society are under the greatest assault in history” as a direct result of the internet and the nature of online communication. He describes the contemporary combination of technology and media as “mediology,” attributing its success and influence to three components: realism, reach, and desire. Magee also contends that the ways technology responds to and influences human nature should be a topic of immediate public attention and discussion. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
