The Gaming Culture in Africa and the part we play in nurturing it.The Gaming culture in Africa has enormous potential, this is evident in the rising population numbers; The African region is one of the regions in the world where the youth population is increasing. By 2050, Africa’s young people, i.e., those aged between 0 and 24 years, will witness an increase of around 50%. Africa is expected to have the most significant number of young people. Africa’s youth is critical to the continent’s future when it comes to gaming. The increased interest in the world of gaming has had a solid impact on revenue stream and download numbers. So what can we do collectively to nurture this culture and help it grow? How to nurture it?
A. Monetize gaming and make it attractive for young people – as developers, creatives and players
B. Inclusive Diversity and Equity when creating games, allowing creators to make games that represent the continent, culture-based games or localized games,
C. Get brands to support e-sport through endorsements and sponsorship.
D. Harness the strength of community.
E. Increased events to cater to loopholes that exist in skill development.
