The Human Side: Germany Helps Africa, an episode from the series, 'They Saw,' explores the influence of the government of West Germany's agricultural and industrial aid to West Africa.
In Nigeria, there is support for the block-making industry to support the creation of buildings and influence modernization. A feature of Germany's influence in aeronautics is Lufthansa Airlines at the Ikeja Airport in Lagos.

The country first addressed is Togo: 01:52, as the influence of the missionaries who built schools and hospitals is recognized. The attempt to reduce the infant mortality rate in remote villages is mentioned.
This is followed by the examination of Ghana, particularly a school by the Volta River: 03:06. The influence of Christianity on post-colonial education is mentioned.
Then there is an examination of animal husbandry in Mali and the aid of European veterinarians in curbing the outspread of the tsetse fly sickness: 06:08.
Thereafter, an examination of the modern slaughterhouse plant in Conakry, Republic of Guinea: 07:30. The creation of a water supply system is also emphasized. And at 13:33, we have a 'roll credits' moment!
Thereafter, at 13:47, we jump to an examination of fishing in what appears to be either Ghana or Cameroon, but at 16:02 is an examination of transportation via water in a place that might be Southern Nigeria.
At 17:34, we move to Liberia. At 18:12, we see some European wives enjoying tea.
Togo's railroad track construction is discussed at 19:16. At 25:22, we are introduced to Radiodiffusion Du Togo.
It is not until 30:08, that we finally arrive in Nigeria, Lagos to be specific!
