THIS LESSON WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:
The initial empire of Ghana was founded by Judean refugees or migrants from Cyrene circa 200 AD. Earlier migrants as well as other Israelite migrants from Mediterranean Africa also settled in the mountainous area between the coast and Sahara before being pushed out. They also settled in the oases of the Sahara. These people are labelled as Proto-Soninke or Mande peoples.
Circa 600 AD the Mande People migrated from Nubia to the Kingdom Ghana (modern day Mauritania/Mali) for refuge along with other groups like the Akan and Temne to name a few. The Mande first left the Kingdom of Judah circa 700 BC and migrated into Kemet. The cause was Assyrian attacks and the outlawing of the Snake God they worshipped Ningishzida/Nehushtan (Bida) by King Hezekiah. While in Kemet they were allowed to continue this custom by incorporating it into Egyptian Apep worship. Circa 300 BC they began migrating into Kush/Nubia (Meroe) because of Persian, Greek and later Roman incursions into Egypt. They left Nubia because of the chaotic situation of the time. (Discuss)
After arriving in Ghana they took over the Kingship starting with Dyabe Cisse ben Dinga circa 750 AD. After the collapse of Ghana because of Moorish attacks and famine; they created the Empire of Mali circa 1250 AD.Founded by a line of Kings descendant from Bilal an Ethiopian Israelite of the Tribe of Dan.After the collapse of Mali by the Songhai circa 1450 AD the Mande were thrown into a state of Disarray and many fell victim to the Transatlantic slave trade.
