come a long way as many Africans have given their lives for the
continent's current sovereignty. For their belief in the African
dream of equality for all, many of Africa's revolutionary heroes
and heroines were slain. After the second World war, the
momentum that would eventually lead to independence in
Africa began to take shape. Only a few African countries were
independent at the time such as Ethiopia which had never been
colonized, despite several Italian efforts. Following the war,
Africans desired change, and inspired by Indian self-rule, they
were optimistic about constructing a new civilization free of
European influence.
