The Rural Solar Market Development Project in Zimbabwe, as implemented by SNV, aims to increase access to renewable energy and create meaningful self-employment opportunities. The project addresses the key constraints in the solar market value chain, such as cost and effective distribution models, by tackling the missing link of rural retailing and distribution of solar photovoltaic (PV) products. It links youth to solar companies with the view of entering into business relationships, where youth represent the company brand but are working for themselves.
