Ethiopia: The Ethiopian government has nominated a senior official from the Tigray People's Liberation Front, Getachew Reda, to lead an interim administration in Tigray following the conclusion of a two-year conflict. The announcement comes one day after the TPLF was removed from an official list of terrorist organizations.

Uganda: The U.N. human rights chief has asked Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to veto an anti-LGBTQ bill that calls for harsh punishments, including life imprisonment and execution. The U.S. National Security Council has warned of economic sanctions if the bill is passed.

South Africa: The latest exhibition by American photographic artist Roger Ballen is now on display in Johannesburg. Ballen said the exhibition intends to investigate the "antagonistic” relationship between humans and the environment, with an emphasis on the extinction of African animals.

South Africa: South Africans prevailed in the Cape Epic on Wednesday. The third stage of the mountain bike competition took the two-person teams from Hermanus to the Western Cape's Oak Valley Estate. Senegal: Fatumata Bah won an amateur motor drag race in Dakar in which four men and four women competed for first place. Earlier, pairs of drivers in Peugeot hatchbacks had competed for the fastest time on a temporary track near Dakar's former airfield.
