In its second Activate Talk on the African continent, UNICEF convened a collection of tech start-ups, governmental agencies and international organizations to highlight the recent innovations that have improved the survival and well-being of children in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Activate Talk featured various groundbreaking initiatives which have through the use of new technology transformed the lives of vulnerable communities. The speakers were:

Tendekayi Katsiga of Deaftronics, a solar powered hearing aid.
Nigel Mugamu of 263Chat, a crowdsourcing platform promoting of social dialogue through social media engagement.
Peter Morgan, the inventor of Aquamor, an eco-sanitation, bush pump and blair toilet.
Mkhululi Ndlovu of West Chase, a tracking system for medicines and medical supplies.
Dr S. Zinyowera of Point-of-care (POC), an initiative implemented by the Ministry Of Health and Child Care as a stand-alone HIV voluntary testing and counseling centre.
The event took place on May 30, 2014 in Harare, Zimbabwe.
