On the White Nile, by filmmaker Akuol de Mabior, takes us into the world of Rebecca Lith Chol.

From the stern of her long wooden boat, Rebecca steers her crew down the White Nile, running her small fishing business.

She is a formidable, courageous woman - in charge of her boat, her business and her destiny.

Hers is a precarious living, but despite a life of hardship, her philosophical outlook and strong heart drive her forward.

Director/producer Akuol de Mabior is a South Sudanese filmmaker based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has directed short films that have been screened at festivals around the world and is currently working on her first feature documentary, Nyandeng, which received the Whickers Film and TV Funding Award (2020) and the IDFA Bertha Classic Fund (2020).

It's one of the most unbelievable features of mankind that I've ever seen anywhere on this planet.

Welcome to Juba City, the capital city of Africa’s youngest state, South Sudan. The land of the tallest people on the continent of Africa and arguably the world.
The women of South Sudan and Juba dominate the international runways and magazines as models. Where else will you find tall black beauties with slender elegance? Adut Aketch, currently the world’s most beautiful woman is from Juba City.
The country is surprisingly diverse with over 60 ethnic groups calling it home.
Welcome to Juba City. Juba City is the capital and largest city of South Sudan. The city is situated on the White Nile and also serves as the capital of Central Equatoria State.
Juba is the world's newest capital city, and has a population of over half a million in 2021. The growth of the town accelerated following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2005, which made Juba the capital of the Autonomous Government of Southern Sudan.
Juba is developing very rapidly due to oil money and the Chinese coming for work and development. It has been described as undergoing an economic boom, especially in the past five years and since independence.
The prospect of an economic boom has brought thousands of opportunity seekers to Juba, mostly from northern Sudan and the rest of East Africa with several regional and international businesses establishing a presence.
Tall modern skyscrapers adorn Jubas newly tarmacked avenues with shiny billboards announcing the latest commercial establishments. Traders are smiling all the way to the bank as hungry customers throng the well-stocked shops. It’s clear to all and sundry that business in Juba City is booming.

The infantry battalion of China's fourth peacekeeping force to South Sudan managed to resolve a conflict among refugees in Juba on Tuesday.

The conflict was allegedly caused by a theft incident on Sunday in the third camp.

Welcome to South Sudan, a land where lakhs of cows originate from India, and the people hold great care and reverence for these gentle creatures. Our journey takes us to the Mundari tribe's native place, where handcrafted nut paste serves as their staple food. Witness their unique practices, as they clean cow dung using their hands and employ it to deter mosquito bites. The hardworking children play a vital role in their daily activities, showcasing their strong bond with the land and animals.

In this community, one's wealth is measured by the number of cows they possess, emphasizing their deep affection for these animals. Marriages are solemnized by offering cows as dowries; men may have up to four wives.

Witnessing the friendly fights for entertainment purposes, I immersed myself in the tribe's way of life. I had the pleasure of tasting fresh milk, a sweet and nourishing delight. Engaging in heartfelt conversations with the tribespeople enriched my experience, leaving me with cherished memories.

As we met again, for now, tata bye-bye Devru. I look forward to sharing more captivating moments in our next video.
