African Albinos in Tanzania are thought to bring bad luck because they are too white in a black community. They are discriminated against because of being an albino and having a white skin color. Life as an albino in Tanzania is hard, they are borned different from black Africans and hunted.

Albinism genetics are rampant in Tanzania, because the gene pool is very narrow. And African albinos are in trouble because they are thought to be cursed and should be hunted.
I'm with African albino girls and boys. They’re sometimes treated as animals and these kids are here to be protected from discrimination.

The Iraqw People.
Welcome to Afroartista Films. In today's video, we investigate the Iraqw, a Southern Cushitic ethnic group living in Tanzania. The following are ten remarkable facts about these people.

1. The Iraqw are a Cushitic-speaking ethnic group who live in northern Tanzania. They are a prominent group that formed in the north-central Tanzanian districts of southern Arusha and northwestern Manyara, near the Rift Valley.
2. The Iraqw have long been thought to be descendants of Afro-Asiatic peoples who practiced agricultural and animal husbandry in the Great Lakes region. The Iraqw are said to have originated in Ethiopia, namely in the Oromia region near Harar and Dire Dawa.
3. The Iraqw speak the Iraqw language as their mother tongue, which is part of the Afro-Asian family's South Cushitic branch. Iraqw speakers are also fluent in Swahili, Tanzania's native language.

4. A thorough anthropological examination of the ethnic Iraqw reveals that they have strong similarities with other Cushitic-speaking groups in general. The Iraqw, however, have some phenotypic linkages with local Bantu communities due to intermarriage with the neighboring Tanzanian populations.
5. Recent developments in genetic studies have thrown some insight on the Iraqw people's ethno genesis. The E1b1b haplogroup has been shown to be present in 56% of Iraqis. This indicates that they are mostly Cushitic in origin. The Iraqw's second most common paternal lineage was Haplogroup B, which is typical in Nilotic groups. It is observed in 22% of Iraqi males. The E1b1a haplogroup, which is very common among Bantus and is found in 11% of the Iraqw, was the third most frequently observed paternal DNA marker.
6. According to current estimates, the Iraqw number around 1,000,000 people. Their primary habitat is in the Mbulu Highlands of the northern Manyara Region. It has long been noted for its intense farming and has been referred to as a "island" inside a matrix of less intensive farming. The Iraqw also dominate in the areas surrounding Karatu town in the Arusha region.
7. The Iraqw may be Afro-Asian Neolithic populations who settled in Northern Kenya and later moved south due to clashes with Nilotic and Bantu peoples; this hypothesis has been confirmed by remains discovered in Kenya's Kerio Valley that testify to the presence of Neolithic farmers who used complex irrigation systems similar to those still in use in Iraqw fields. The area was subsequently abandoned due to an epidemic pestilence, which may have been the cause of the Iraqw migration south.
8. Many foreign groups have been assimilated into Iraqi culture. The majority of the latter are Nilotic (particularly Datoga) and Bantu in ancestry.
9. The Iraqw, like the Maasai and the Datoga, measure their wealth in terms of the number of livestock they own, but unlike the other two groups, they are large-scale farmers as well as livestock keepers.
10. The Iraqw are predominantly Christian, due to the efforts of Western missionaries. A small minority is Muslim and the rest adhere to various animist beliefs. They celebrate a number of rites, the most prominent of which is male circumcision, which symbolizes the journey to adulthood and involves youngsters aged 3 to 10 years.

Thanks for watching. I hope you learnt something. If you did please subscribe to the channel and don’t forget to like, comment and share this video. See you around.

HELLO!! Sorry you haven’t heard from me in a few days... I’ve been having WAY too much fun on this beautiful (and seriously underrated) island called ZANZIBAR in TANZANIA to kick off my 2 month, 14-country Africa trip.

Did you know that the phrase “Hakuna Matata” (from the Lion King) actually means “No Worries” in Swahili?! Moreover, did you know that Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, was born and raised here? There’s so much more uniqueness to this island that I can’t wait to share with you!

I’ve spent the last 3 days in Zanzibar with a few of my best friends from home and a new local friend, Mandela. I cannot believe how perfect these white sand beaches are, combined with a very simple life, lots of fresh fruit (PINEAPPLES) and Rastafarian beach parties — I could easily spend a few months here.

In this video, I aim to educate you about the diverse history of Zanzibar, show you some fun activities happening around the island, and tell you what to expect if you are planning to come here.

Have you ever been to Zanzibar?

Music: Audio Autix

P.S - Watch until the very end to learn some Swahili words!!!

This brief documentary explores the origins of Sheikh Abdurraheem Green, providing a glimpse into his birthplace and the development of iERA. It highlights the pivotal moment in the dawah movement, which, in shaa Allah will fulfil the prophecy of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that: "Islam will enter every home."

With the permission of Allah (swt), in Tanzania last year, our dedicated team of 85 duaat successfully gave dawah to 9,902 individuals to embrace Islam.

Globally, we are proud to have welcomed 50,417 individuals into our faith across 35 countries in the same year, alhamdulillah.

Tanzania's largest ethnic minority, the Indo-Tanzanian community has lived in the country for hundreds of years, some going back to even the Middle Ages. Many are descended from traders or indentured laborers from the state of Gujarat. The largest community is in Kisutu and Upanga in Dar es Salaam. Their history is complicated and sometimes tragic, but no one can deny they are Tanzanian.

The African Great Lakes nation of Tanzania dates formally from 1964, when it was formed out of the union of the much larger mainland territory of Tanganyika and the coastal archipelago of Zanzibar. The former was a colony and part of German East Africa from the 1880s to 1919’s when, under the League of Nations, it became a British mandate. It served as a British military outpost during World War II, providing financial help, munitions, and soldiers. In 1947, Tanganyika became a United Nations Trust Territory under British administration, a status it kept until its independence in 1961. The island of Zanzibar thrived as a trading hub, successively controlled by the Portuguese, the Sultanate of Oman, and then as a British protectorate by the end of the nineteenth century.

Julius Nyerere, independence leader and "baba wa taifa" for Tanganyika , ruled the country for decades, while Abeid Amaan Karume, governed Zanzibar as its president and Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Following Nyerere's retirement in 1985, various political and economic reforms began. He was succeeded in office by President Ali Hassan Mwinyi.
Prehistory
Early Stone Age
Tanzania is home to some of the oldest hominid settlements unearthed by archaeologists. Prehistoric stone tools and fossils have been found in and around Olduvai Gorge in northern Tanzania, an area often referred to as "The Cradle of Mankind". Acheulian stone tools were discovered there in 1931 by Louis Leakey, after he had correctly identified the rocks brought back by Hans Reck to Germany from his 1913 Olduvai expedition as stone tools. The same year, Louis Leakey found older, more primitive stone tools in Olduvai Gorge. These were the first examples of the oldest human technology ever discovered in Africa, and were subsequently known throughout the world as Oldowan after Olduvai Gorge. The first hominid skull in Olduvai Gorge was discovered by Mary Leakey in 1959, and named Zinj or Nutcracker Man, the first example of Paranthropus boisei, and is thought to be over 1.8 million years old. Other finds including Homo habilis fossils were subsequently made. At nearby Laetoli the oldest known hominid footprints, the Laetoli footprints, were discovered by Mary Leakey in 1978, and estimated to be about 3.6 million years old and probably made by Australopithecus afarensis. The oldest hominid fossils ever discovered in Tanzania also come from Laetoli and are the 3.6 to 3.8 million year old remains of Australopithecus afarensis—Louis Leakey had found what he thought was a baboon tooth at Laetoli in 1935 , a fragment of hominid jaw with three teeth was found there by Kohl-Larsen in 1938–39, and in 1974–75 Mary Leakey recovered 42 teeth and several jawbones from the site.
