The Apapa Customs Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated two hundred and twenty-seven point three billion naira revenue between January and June, indicating an increase of 11% above its 2019 half year earnings.

The Area Comptroller, Mohammed Abba-Kura says the command also recorded an export trade volume of more than fifty two billion naira in the first half of the year.

Five Hundred and Forty-five million Naira worth of contraband goods that Nigerian Customs Service seized from smugglers in the South-Eastern and South-Southern parts of the country have been destroyed.

A video has surfaced online showing an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) shooting an unarmed man, now simply identified by NCS as Godwin.

The incident was said to have occurred along the Sagamu Interchange in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

From the video, it didn’t seem like there was a physical struggle, although tempers were flayed, before the officer simply cocked his gun and fired.

The person who recorded the video was also threatened but he stood his ground, insisting that the officer had no right to confiscate his phone.

A lady who seemed like an ally of the deceased was heard lamenting that they had just returned from outside the country, and the man was shot because they refused to part with N5,000.

The Nigerian Customs Service has issued a statement saying there was a struggle and then an accidental discharge from the officer's rifle killed the man named Godwin; who is friend of the Service.

The customs officer involved is named Destiny Onebamho and he's currently receiving treatment at an unnamed hospital.
