Nigerian police officer rejects bribe because it was too "small."

Following a tip from someone who was aware of the event, Nigerian police raided an alleged gay wedding in the southern city of Warri in Delta state, which is prohibited in the nation, and arrested 67 persons, according to the authorities. According to a statement released by Delta police spokesman Edafe Bright late on Tuesday, the officers were tipped off about the ceremony on Aug. 27 while questioning a male cross-dresser who was wearing a female identity. The date of the raid was not specified in the statement.

Kabiru Sokoto was first captured a month ago, but broke out of jail just 24 hours later and went on the run, leading to the sacking of Nigeria's police chief.

Officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), on Tuesday, fought over the custody of suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

The secret police and prison officials clashed over the agency to take custody of the suspended and embattled apex bank chief after Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos admitted Emefiele to bail in the sum of the N20m.

The judge also ordered that Emefiele be remanded at the correctional center pending the fulfillment of the bail conditions.

Shortly after the ruling, DSS operatives strategically positioned their Hilux Pick Up van used in bring Emefiele to court, in a manner suggesting that they wanted to take him back to their detention centre.

This prompted Emefiele’s lead counsel, Joseph Daudu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and other lawyers to raise an alarm about their client’s planned re-arrest by the secret police.
