Cotton is a plant that is cultivated for a multitude of purposes and products. Long cotton fibers are used to make thread, yarn, textiles, clothes and other products, like towels, carpets, sheets, and more. Clothes made out of cotton are especially light and comfortable. The short fibers can be used in the paper industry.

Tanzania,Africa 🇹🇿.

Tanzania (/ˌtænzəˈniːə/;[14][15][note 2] Swahili: [tanzaˈni.a]), officially the United Republic of Tanzania (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania), is a country in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region. It borders Uganda to the north; Kenya to the northeast; Comoro Islands and the Indian Ocean to the east; Mozambique and Malawi to the south; Zambia to the southwest; and Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, is in northeastern Tanzania.

Many important hominid fossils have been found in Tanzania, such as 6-million-year-old Pliocene hominid fossils. The genus Australopithecus ranged all over Africa 4 to 2 million years ago; and the oldest remains of the genus Homo are found near Lake Olduvai. Following the rise of Homo erectus 1.8 million years ago, humanity spread all over the Old World, and later in the New World and Australia under the species Homo sapiens. H. sapiens also overtook Africa and absorbed the older archaic species and subspecies of humanity.

Later in the Stone and Bronze Age, prehistoric migrations into Tanzania included Southern Cushitic speakers who moved south from present-day Ethiopia;[16] Eastern Cushitic people who moved into Tanzania from north of Lake Turkana about 2,000 and 4,000 years ago;[16] and the Southern Nilotes, including the Datoog, who originated from the present-day South Sudan–Ethiopia border region between 2,900 and 2,400 years ago.[16]:page 18 These movements took place at about the same time as the settlement of the Mashariki Bantu from West Africa in the Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika areas. They subsequently migrated across the rest of Tanzania between 2,300 and 1,700 years ago.[16][17]

German rule began in mainland Tanzania during the late 19th century when Germany formed German East Africa. This was followed by British rule after World War I. The mainland was governed as Tanganyika, with the Zanzibar Archipelago remaining a separate colonial jurisdiction. Following their respective independence in 1961 and 1963, the two entities merged in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania.[18] The countries had joined the British Commonwealth in 1961 and Tanzania is still a member of the Commonwealth as one republic.[19]

The United Nations estimated Tanzania's 2018 population at 56.31 million, which is slightly smaller than South Africa, making it the second most populous country located entirely south of the Equator.[7][8] The population is composed of about 120 ethnic,[20] linguistic, and religious groups. The sovereign state of Tanzania is a presidential constitutional republic and since 1996 its official capital city has been Dodoma where the president's office, the National Assembly, and all government ministries are located.[21] Dar es Salaam, the former capital, retains most government offices and is the country's largest city, principal port, and leading commercial centre.[18][22][23] Tanzania is a de facto one-party state with the democratic socialist Chama Cha Mapinduzi party in power.

Tanzania is mountainous and densely forested in the north-east, where Mount Kilimanjaro is located. Three of Africa's Great Lakes are partly within Tanzania. To the north and west lie Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake, and Lake Tanganyika, the continent's deepest lake, known for its unique species of fish. To the south lies Lake Malawi. The eastern shore is hot and humid, with the Zanzibar Archipelago just offshore. The Menai Bay Conservation Area is Zanzibar's largest marine protected area. The Kalambo Falls, located on the Kalambo River at the Zambian border, is the second highest uninterrupted waterfall in Africa.[24]

Christianity is the largest religion in Tanzania, but there are also substantial Muslim and Animist minorities.[25] Over 100 different languages are spoken in Tanzania, making it the most linguistically diverse country in East Africa.[26] The country does not have a de jure official language,[27] although the national language is Swahili.[28] Swahili is used in parliamentary debate, in the lower courts, and as a medium of instruction in primary school. English is used in foreign trade, in diplomacy, in higher courts, and as a medium of instruction in secondary and higher education;[26] although the Tanzanian government is planning to discontinue English as the primary language of instruction it will be available as an optional course.[29] Approximately 10 per cent of Tanzanians speak Swahili as a first language, and up to 90 per cent speak it as a second language.

#TanzanianCities
Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa and includes the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba, and Mafia. Situated just south of the equator, Tanzania is bordered by the Indian Ocean and eight countries namely; Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. This beautiful country is home to Mount Kilamanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. Three of the largest lakes on the continent are also found in Tanzania – Lake Victoria in the north, Lake Tanganyika in the west and Lake Nysa in the southwest.
Most cities in Tanzania feature a combination of factors like beautiful urban scenery, architecture, good amenities, attractions, and good housing. Compared to any other country in Africa Tanzania has more wild animals per square kilometer and the world’s highest and largest free-standing mountain also majestically rests here. Due to its rich diversity, culture, beauty, minerals, history and diverse wildlife, no wonder the country is fondly referred to as ‘Soul of Africa’.
In today’s video, we shall be focused on the beauty of some famous cities and towns in Tanzania. Welcome to positive Africa and thanks for watching! Consider subscribing and turning on the post notification bell if you are new so you never miss out on any of our videos.
In no particular order, following is a list of the top 10 most beautiful and influential cities in Tanzania.
Number 1: Mbeya.
Mbeya is a thriving town in south west Tanzania that lies at the foothills of the towering Loleza Peak, between the Mbeya and Poroto mountain ranges. It owes its existence to the discovery of gold in the area and today is a major trade and transit junction between Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi. The mountainous area surrounding the town is covered with dense and verdant forests profuse with bird life, while the Kitulo Plateau to the south east of the city is a popular walking and hiking destination owing to the wonderful wildflowers that blanket the landscape. The town is also located amidst a major coffee, banana and tea farming region and home to the scenic Ngozi Crater Lake. Mbeya’s cool climate and scenic hillside surrounds make it a favourite spot for nature lovers. Scenic locations to visit around the town include the Kitulo National Park, Mbozi Meteorite, Ngozi Crater Lake and the Daraja la Mungu bridge.

Number 2: Arusha.
In the shadow of Mount Meru and located in the north of Tanzania, Arusha is most often thought of as the gateway to Tanzania’s highly popular northern safari circuit and is a hive of activity all year around. It is mostly lush and green with a cosmopolitan vibe, and boasts pretty views of nearby Mount Meru as well as plenty of places to eat drink and stay. It’s a great spot to pick up last minute souvenirs or mementos of Tanzania.

Number 3: Dar Es Salaam.
On the Swahili coast of Tanzania sits Dar es Salaam and its port. It is the most populous city of the nation and its fastest growing with over 6.7 million people. This city is a commercial hub of Tanzania, and of economic importance to the entire East African region. The Port of Dar es Salaam is East Africa’s second-busiest port and handles over 90% of the country’s cargo. The town square, with its eclectic cultural mix of African, Arab, Indian and German influences, is the most urbanized life of the country. Besides the sighting of the beautiful towering high-rises, visitors can see the Botanical Gardens and the National Museum. On the western shores of the Indian Ocean is the Coco Beach where visitors can enjoy white sand.

Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. They include the plains of Serengeti National Park, a safari mecca populated by the “big five” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain. Offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar, with a marine park home to whale sharks and coral reefs.

Tanzania, East African country situated just south of the Equator. Tanzania was formed as a sovereign state in 1964 through the union of the theretofore separate states of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Mainland Tanganyika covers more than 99 percent of the combined territories’ total area. Mafia Island is administered from the mainland, while Zanzibar and Pemba islands have a separate government administration. Dodoma, since 1974 the designated official capital of Tanzania, is centrally located on the mainland. Dar es Salaam is the largest city and port in the country.

Tanzania mainland

The Tanzania mainland is bounded by Uganda, Lake Victoria, and Kenya to the north, by the Indian Ocean to the east, by Mozambique, Lake Nyasa, Malawi, and Zambia to the south and southwest, and by Lake Tanganyika, Burundi, and Rwanda to the west.

Relief
Except for the narrow coastal belt of the mainland and the offshore islands, most of mainland Tanzania lies above 600 feet (200 metres) in elevation. Vast stretches of plains and plateaus contrast with spectacular relief features, notably Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro (19,340 feet [5,895 metres]), and the world’s second deepest lake, Lake Tanganyika (4,710 feet [1,436 metres] deep).

Mount Kilimanjaro
Crater rim of Kilimanjaro at dawn.

The East African Rift System runs in two north-south-trending branches through mainland Tanzania, leaving many narrow, deep depressions that are often filled by lakes. One branch, the Western Rift Valley, runs along the western frontier and is marked by Lakes Tanganyika and Rukwa, while the other branch, the Eastern (or Great) Rift Valley, extends through central Tanzania from the Kenyan border in the region of Lakes Eyasi, Manyara, and Natron south to Lake Nyasa at the border with Mozambique. The central plateau, covering more than a third of the country, lies between the two branches.

We met this group of musicians the first time back in 2008, in a backyard in the village Mlingotini in Tanzania. We were quite fascinated by their musical style. This group is self-tought and made most of the instruments on their own from simple things. Here is a little collection of their repertouar.
