IDOMA BRAIDS
The inspiration behind this style was that, I wanted to create a style that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye but yet protective. "protective beauty"
Idoma braids is a combination of the traditional classic pick and drop braids style (common among African Women , especially Nigeria women in Western Africa) and the new versatile crochet braids popular among the British and Scottish women .
The Idoma braids style was created to reduce the long hours associated with taking out pick and drop style. And to reduce the bulkiness associated with crochet braids.
By braiding the client's actual hair to the end, the Idoma braids technique, helps protect the client's hair and reduces the chances of hair loss which is usually common with the traditional pick and drop method. If you like the Idoma braid technique above like and share.

The Umomo masquerade usually comes out during occasions like burials and new yam festivals. The person that usually wears the mask, mostly men, have to perform cleansing, because after wearing the mask the person is seen as a representative of the Alekwu (Alekwu is a traditional god of the Idoma, popularly believed amongst the people to have the power to protect, reward and punish sons and daughters of the land. The Idoma people believes that it could punish anyone who goes contrary to the morals, norms, cultures or traditions already laid down). A day before wearing it the person is not expected to sleep with a woman.
