China has been fighting against desertification since at least the 1950s after a long period of unsustainable growth. 27% of the country is covered by deserts, and in the year 2000 the Gobi Desert was estimated to be expanding at a rate of 10,400 square km a year. With farmland rapidly becoming desert and an ever-growing population, it was clear that a future famine was inevitable unless immediate action was taken.

So in 1978 the Chinese government drew up a plan. A wall of trees, around 4500 kilometres long, built to block the expansion of the desert, shield against sandstorms and offset the country’s carbon emissions.

The trailer mashups are not only a user generated form of digital creativity but a way to create anticipation for future releases, working in tandem with current movie trailers. Movie trailers are designed to give minimal plot detail and to create hype and anticipation. Fan made trailer mashups allow the audience to perform their own cinematic spin on current movie footage. This allows the trailer to focus on a specific actor or portion of the film. It could even change the plot or genre of the film entirely.

Producer Amy Pascal seemingly walks back on her comments about the development of a new Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland in the MCU.
Film producer Amy Pascal clarifies her announcement for Spider-Man 4, 5, and 6 with Tom Holland. At the end of November 2021, while doing press for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Pascal surprised everybody when she announced that Sony is continuing their partnership with Marvel Studios for the wall-crawler beyond the upcoming threequel. This excited a lot of fans, but now, she may be walking back on her revelation.

Sony was in its second iteration of the friendly neighborhood hero played by Andrew Garfield when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 surprisingly became a disappointment. Instead of moving forward with their plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Kevin Feige was able to convince Sony to share Spider-Man with Marvel Studios in 2015, which led to their historic partnership. Soon, Holland was cast in the role, and by 2016, he joined the MCU through Captain America: Civil War. Since then, he has played the role four more times — two of which were in his solo adventures: Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The USA's Aries Merritt wins the gold medal in the men's 110m hurdles event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (8 August).

Merritt was followed by his compatriot James Richardson taking silver and Jamaica's Hansle Parchment taking bronze at the Olympic Stadium.



Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.
