The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) is the premier award given by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) in recognition of outstanding achievements in the arts and culture. The inaugural NAMA was held in February 2002 honouring artists who excelled in 2001. Since then, NAMA award ceremonies have been held in February of each year to recognise artists who would have excelled in the previous year. NAMA has reviewed its categories for the 15th Edition and beyond after carrying some country wide consultative forums.
💕THE stage is set for the 21st National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) powered by Old Mutual Zimbabwe Saturday at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), with organisers aiming to provide a unique experience.
This year’s event will run under the theme ‘Unlocking Dreams.’
The ceremony “will recognise outstanding achievements within the arts sector”.
A line-up featuring songbird Gemma Griffiths, mbira queen Hope Masike, Tocky Vibes, Poptain, Feli Nandi gospel singer Mathias Mhere, hip-hop stars Saintfloew and Holy 10, Freeman, Andrea the Vocalist, Ammara Brown, ExQ with DJ Tamuka on the decks.

Theme: The theme is taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14 ( If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land).
Background:
We live our lives expectant, we live daily with hopes and dreams all driven towards the destiny God has purposed for each of us. Now when that hope is shaken, it destroys dreams, it cripples and stifles one’s destiny, it shakes your faith. This is what the Holy Spirit revealed that this is what the global pandemic is doing in our nation, in Africa and beyond. God is calling us as a people back to the basics, back to HIM. He wants to realign our focus and set our feet on the solid ROCK and sure foundation. The pandemic has destroyed and killed many lives the world over, but for us that are still breathing and standing in the midst of such a pandemic, we can be that voice that calls our on the name of Jesus Christ and renders the heavens. We can rise up like Job and say though my body is destroyed, yet in my flesh, I will see God, for I know that my Redeemer lives. We have to lift up one voice, in Worship and make a declaration “our day has come” we will stand declaring the year 2020 August as the year we saw the hand of God shift because our focus has been re-aligned to HIS and He has restored us back to His side.
Purpose:
The purpose of this song, being released at this time is a call to bring God’s people to remember what the Father requires of us. He has never left us nor forsaken us, and even in this season, He remains faithful and true to his people. Think of Cyclone Idai, who would have thought Zimbabwe would suffer the impact of such (a landlocked country), but we did and it was devastating. But see the unity, love and message of standing united that God allowed to be worked in that situation. God brought harmony, cause, oneness into that situation that moved people from being considerate of one’s self to touching the lives of many.
He hasn’t changed. We are to ARISE in this season of the global health pandemic and stand in humility (knowing whatever we have of material essence can't change what is taking place) in prayer (believing that God is the author and perfecter of our faith) SEEK him (truly search him out without seizing – until we see his face) and of paramount, WE HAVE TO STOP OUR FLESHLY WAYS – SIN. The bible declares that above all else GOD HATES SIN, BUT HE LOVES THE SINNER and if we can understand that and truly live to his precepts, have an intimate relationship with Him, He will hear from Heaven, he truly will forgive our sin (the bible says that where there is true repentance, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness) and he will heal our land, not only our land Zimbabwe but Africa and the nations of this world.
