Harouna COMPAORÉ ventured into rabbit farming in 2016. At that time, there were not many breeders specialised in this type of farming, and he learned as he went along.
Over time, he encountered several occasions where he lost almost all of his rabbits. However, he remained determined and never hesitated to start again from scratch.
Today, he has around 400 rabbits on his farm. He also trains students in rabbit farming and plans to establish a training center attached to his farm. His dream is to make his company, "Fermier de Ouaga", the biggest rabbit farm in Burkina Faso.

The people of Botswana get a window into the lives of the lions that live near them. Lions often eat the villager's livestock, creating conflict between the villagers and the hungry lions. Scientists have created an early warning system to notify people when the lions are near in an effort to save the lives of the lions and create a path toward healthy coexistence. The National Geographic Society uses the power of science, exploration, education, and storytelling to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world. Learn more at http://www.natgeo.org

Impala are beautiful antelopes. They are numerous and often overlooked given their numbers. Aait is always worth taking time out to watch these lovely creatures. They came down to the waterhole in Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana for a drink. They take a big risk drinking because of the ever present threat of predators but there is, to a degree, safety in numbers.

It's often joked that the cattle population in the landlocked southern African nation of Botswana outnumbers the people living there. Of the estimated 2.2 M cattle, 88% belong to communal farmers, who practise traditional farming methods on smallholdings. The remainder are owned by commercial farms, which implement more modern practices. CGTN's Maria Galang visited a feed lot in southern Botswana to see how the sector is managing following the recent drought

This video gives an insight into the SWM Programme work with ranchers and community scouts in the Habu Community Conservancy, which is located in the communal livestock grazing areas of western Ngamiland, Botswana.
The video introduces Godlop, a community scout benefitting from the SWM Community Conservancy Project, which is supporting his community by promoting co-existence between livestock and wildlife.
The SWM Programme is the first international initiative to tackle the wild meat challenge by addressing both wildlife conservation and food security. It is an initiative from the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), funded by the European Union with co-funding from the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM) and the French Development Agency (AFD).
It is implemented through a consortium partnership, which includes the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD).

This is the animal introduction for the Botswana DVD sent to the kittens and cool cats back home.
Chobe national park in Botswana has one of the greatest concentrations of wild animals in Africa. This place is one of the best to observe wildlife in the whole continent. Watch this video and experience the bush safari vibe with us! Savuti is the area of the park with great number of lions and leopards. Savuti lions are known for hunting elephants and other big game. Leopards in Savuti are not very shy. We had so many great sightings of these big cats! You will also see elephants, Greater Kudus, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests and other herbivores. This video also contains footage showing the style of camping in the bush, which is great for a close experience of African wilderness.

Did you know these facts about Botswana?
One, Botswana is the world’s second-largest producer of diamonds and diamonds are a major contributor to the country's economy.
Two, the country is also home to one of the largest elephant populations in the world, with an estimated 130,000 elephants roaming its landscapes.
Three, the country is known for its unique and colourful traditional attire, including the “Shweshwe" cloth.
For years, Botswana has been known for its thriving livestock sector. So much so that at some point, it was the country's strongest contributor to economic growth. But years of neglect has seen this sector decline, with its products banned by the European Union. As you're about to see - the consequences on farmers, are anything but pretty.
The birds of Botswana's Wild Kingdoms display exhibit some interesting behaviour!
