Nigeria Super Eagles VS Saudi Arabia - Preview & Predictions - How to Watch Live - 2023 International Friendly Match

Date: 13th October 2023
Time: 5pm Nigerian Time
Venue: Estádio Municipal de Portimão in Portugal,

The last time the Super Eagles of Nigeria won an international friendly match was back in 2019 against Egypt but our chance for redemption comes today, Friday the 13th of October, as Nigeria prepare to face the The Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia, a team that has endured a tough streak, losing their last six matches in a row.

#NGAKSA #KSANGA #SoarSuperEagles

Nigeria enters this game with renewed hope, having secured three consecutive wins in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, and Guinea Bissau.
The venue for this game is set at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão in Portugal, with the kickoff scheduled for 5 pm Nigerian time. It's a significant return to Portuguese soil for the Super Eagles, the last time we played in Portugal was in November last year, when Nigeria suffered a 4-0 defeat against Portugal.

Few days after this game, on Monday, the 16th of October, Nigeria will be facing Mozambique in another friendly clash. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is gearing up to take on Mali on the 17th of October.

These friendly matches will serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Nigeria is set to face Lesotho and Zimbabwe next month, while Saudi Arabia is bracing themselves for a showdown against Jordan in the same timeframe.

The last time Nigeria faced Saudi Arabia was in 2010 when our current coach, Jose Peseiro was in charge of Saudi Arabia with the match ending in a goalless draw. This match was as part of the Super Eagles' final preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The Saudis did not qualify for that tournament.

For this game, Jose Peseiro faces the challenge of missing Taiwo Awoniyi, Ola Aina and Jamilu Collins having to withdraw from the squad due to injuries. In their places, Sadiq Umar, Ebuehi and Awaziem have stepped in as substitutes.

Our team will see the presence of in-form strikers Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho among many others. Additionally, we will also have Alex Iwobi return to the team, marking his comeback after being sidelined in previous matches due to injury. We also have Fisayo Dele-Bashiru joining the team for the first time.

Nigeria undoubtably have the best attacking force in African football however many fans are of the opinion that our defence and midfield need to matchup to this level if we are to do well at international competitions.

On the other side of the pitch, Saudi Arabia boasts a complete squad primarily composed of players from their local league. Among them is Salem Al-Dawsari, their leading goal-scorer with an impressive record of 21 goals in 78 matches.

Few hours ago, Nigeria was grouped alongside Code d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in group A for the 2023 African Cup of Nations which will be played in Code d’Ivoire in January 2024.

These friendly games will serve as early preparation for this competition as well.
On paper, Nigeria is expected to win this game, so I will be predicting a 3 – 1 win for the Super Eagles.

You can follow the live update of this game on the Social Media Pages of Nigeria Super Eagles, I will also be dropping a link to watch the game live under this video when the game starts.

Who do you see winning this game? I will like to know in the comments below.
