Watch !The long tiring curfew has its end predicted. The 60 days that was added will mean to reach the end towards the end of this month, February of 2021. There are high likelihood that curfew will end based on the declined positivity rate of corona pandemic. In fact, already normality is almost taking its course among the Kenyan people. This tells us that corona is far much weaker.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The counter-narratives written by black historians and social scientists helped Coates to understand his identity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ta-Nehisi Coates:

Ta-Nehisi Coates (born 1975, Baltimore, Maryland) is a senior editor for The Atlantic and blogs on its website. Coates has worked for The Village Voice, Washington City Paper, and Time. He has contributed to The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Washington Monthly, O, and other publications. In 2008 he published a memoir, The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood. Coates attended Howard University and currently resides in Harlem with his partner and son.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSCRIPT:

Topic: Influence.

Ta-Nehisi Coates: My dad published a kind of literature, a kind of history. That was about African-Americans but was mostly associated by lay African-American historians. It was a kind of counter narrative. The social sciences for many years, especially post-slavery, were basically deployed as a weapon against African-Americans.

And so, a lot of African-Americans who went to the social sciences were motivated, particularly, by this urge to create a counter narrative, something to fight back with. My dad published a lot of that stuff but mostly by people who were into lay history. His point was to create a tradition. To show that we had a tradition of recording our own history and what that tradition look like. African-Americans, unlike other Americans, don’t have this sort of lineage thing. We can’t trace our people back to a certain portion of Italy. We can’t, you know, trace our folks back to a certain county in Ireland. We don’t have that. We begin here. We are, in many ways, maybe sort of Native Americans. The only real, true Native Americans because we really do begin here.

Those of us who live in cities migrated up from the south so our motherland is very much Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama.

I would read those books and they would fill in, for me, who I was. I need a better way of saying it but I don’t have one. It was like religion for me. It created a lineage. And it also created an explanation for why things were the way they were, why we were here. It gave me not an objective understanding, okay? But it gave me purpose, almost.

Religion is the best way to explain it. It said, you know, you’re here because you’re an African-American and as particular, you’re a black person. And more importantly, you’re an African. That’s probably the way I would’ve put it at that point in time. And the great cause, the great war of this era, is one over race. It’s people who don’t look like you, trying to enslave you, trying to exploit you. And that’s why you’re in this situation right now.

Now, we could quibble with that explanation, and I later complicated it. But for a 13 year old kid trying to walk up and down the street in West Baltimore, it was a good thing. It was a good thing. It made it okay, for me, at that particular point in time.

And just going back to the imagination thing, it filled my head. It made me work with my own imagination, to create some sort of narrative of who I was.

Question: What is the state of African American literature today?

Ta-Nehisi Coates: I don’t have a good answer for that because. There probably is but I’m not a part of it.

A good friend of mine, a very, very, very good friend of mine who I have not seen in a while had lunch; just before my memoir was coming out and he said; he was quoting another writer. So the writer told him, “There are three things for writers in this life. You have a great career. You can have a great love life. And you can have great friends. You don’t get all three, you get to pick two.” Okay? I picked the love life. I picked my career. And writing is this sort of thing that you can’t really get better. As a buddy of mine was saying, you can’t get better in a crowd.

What is water fasting? What are its benefits? Intermittent fasting is gaining huge popularity as a dietary option, but what actually happens to your body when you fast? When I first heard about water fasting, I thought, “No way am I doing this!” But after doing some research and finding out about the benefits of this process, I changed my mind. And now I'm going to tell you what I experienced during my 20-day water fast.

The first 2 days were going to be the most difficult. And they were indeed! I felt incredibly hungry — almost as if I had missed several breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. My energy level dropped, and my mood left much to be desired. I was increasingly irritated, and my patience was wearing thin.

TIMESTAMPS:
The benefits of water fasting 0:43
Days 1–2 2:23
Days 3–7 3:19
Days 8–14 4:37
Days 15–20 5:31

#waterfasting #waterchallenge

Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/

SUMMARY:
- When your body can't get access to carbohydrates (its favorite source of energy), it starts to use stored fats. As a result, you can lose about 1 lb of fat every day. This makes water fasting one of the most effective short-term weight loss methods.
- Water fasting can also help if you have digestive problems like irritable bowel, diarrhea, gas, gastritis, constipation, or loss of appetite.
- The first 2 days were going to be the most difficult. I felt incredibly hungry — almost as if I had missed several breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
- On the third day, the second stage of my water fasting began. By that time, the much-awaited process of ketosis had started. That's when your body gets down to burning the fat it has stored as it has no other sources of energy.
- After the first week of feeding myself nothing but water, I experienced a kind of “fasting high.” I felt great, happy, and impressively energetic. But what pleased me the most was a particular clarity of mind.
- When I got to the fifteenth day of my water fasting, I was incredibly proud of myself! I knew that very few people reach this stage. I also knew that this was a period when I had to be immensely attentive to my condition and visit a doctor if I felt that something had gone wrong.
- Believe it or not, I felt at my best after my water fast. I lost some weight (though not as much as I’d expected). My vitals were impressive in a good way, and some health abnormalities were no longer a cause for concern.

Watch !The Tanzanian government has had a rough time in the past week, with people across the East African community questioning the whereabouts of their president, John Pombe Magufuli.

Having disappeared from the limelight for long, Magufuli has raised suspicion on his health status, with others speculating that his condition could be terrible.

The Tanzanian government has however assured all that the president is OK and that he is busy working.
