Top 10 Greatest African Inventions

Hello Displorers, Welcome back to another video and thanks for watching. In this video, we will be presenting to you the Top 10 greatest African inventions. Africa has the world’s oldest record of human technological achievement: the oldest stone tools in the world have been found in eastern Africa, and later evidence for tool production by our hominine ancestors has been found across Sub-Saharan Africa. The history of science and technology in Africa since then has, however, received relatively little attention compared to other regions of the world, despite notable African developments in mathematics, metallurgy, architecture, and other fields .Africa has brought about a lot of innovative solutions and is improving its technology to match that of the western nations and has no shortage of aspiring and creative minds. There are so many amazing inventions that hail from the African continent which the rest of the world isn’t aware of. Here are some of the greatest, proudly African inventions.

If you are new here, Welcome be sure to subscribe and turn on notification so you don’t miss any of our videos.

So in no particular order, here are the Top 10 African Inventions

10. Mathematics

The invention of mathematics is placed firmly in African prehistory. The oldest known possibly mathematical object is the Lebombo bone, which was discovered in the Lebombo Mountains of Swaziland and dated to approximately 35,000 B.C. Many of the math concepts that are learned in school today were also developed in Africa. Over 35,000 years ago, Ancient Egyptians scripted textbooks about math that included division and multiplication of fractions and geometric formulas to calculate the area and volume of shapes.

9. CAT Scan Machine

The CAT scan is an unbelievable African invention that is widely used around the world in the medical field. This technology was invented by a South African called Allan Cormack. However, the idea was developed and made commercial in the United Kingdom. The inventor was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for his invention. The CAT scan, the electronic detectors, and X-ray sources are rotated around the body and in the process, the radiologist gets a sharp map of the cross-section (tissue slices) of the body.

8. Cybertracker

One amazing innovation that also has its origins in philanthropy is the cybertracker. After spending time with the San people, Louis Liebenberg was urged to assist the traditional hunter-gatherers in preserving their knowledge and innate tracking abilities through the help of technology. Cybertracker software was developed which enables trackers to get jobs in ecotourism, as rangers in anti-poaching units, in wildlife monitoring and scientific research. The software has an icon-based UI that enables non-literate trackers to record complex geo-referencing and animal behavior observations. The invention has become a keystone in job creation for indigenous African communities and crucial in anti-poaching and conservation initiatives throughout the world.

7. Cardiopad

Another amazing invention of African technology is the Cardiopad which was invented by a Cameroonian entrepreneur called Marc Arthur the very first touch screen medical tablet invented and made in Africa. It is a computer tablet that is used for heart examinations. The gadget allows such examinations as electrocardiograms to be conducted in the rural and inaccessible locations. With the Cardiopad, electrodes are placed on the patient and connected to the model that, in turn, connects to the tablet. When a medical examination is performed on a. Patients in a remote village, for example, the results are transmitted from the nurse’s tablet to that of the doctor who then interprets them. The gadget is mostly used in areas where very urgent diagnostic tests need to be carried out but are inaccessible.

6. Quiet Cellular Antenna Technology

This is one of the most intriguing African inventions. Paul van Jaarsveld and Gordon Mayhew, who are South Africans were the brains gifted us. The quiet cellar antennae technology has a square kilometer array plan that reduces noisy cellular emissions from base stations used by cellular companies. This African Technology is based on one phased-array principle that blocks radio frequency transmissions along a given direction and also provides omni-directional coverage. The antenna has been tested in other parts of the world and has worked extremely well. Trail measurements have shown the radio signal frequency levels can be significantly reduced while at the same time maintaining the original GSM coverage. The SKA is projected to be 50 to 100 times more sensitive than other radio telescope ever built, and an area without much radio emissions is essential for the success of the project.

Burkina Faso Says Western Troops Are In Africa For Natural Resources & Not For Peace Mission -
During his address at the 78th Session of the United Nations General Debate, Burkina Faso's Minister of State boldly asserted a thought-provoking perspective on the presence of Western troops in Africa. He emphasized that their deployment in the continent was primarily driven by interests in natural resources such at uranium, gold, diamond, lithium, copper, oil and gas resource, rather than a genuine commitment to fostering peace and stability. This assertion sheds light on a critical geopolitical issue and challenges the prevailing narrative surrounding international interventions in Africa. The Minister's speech serves as a stark reminder of the complex dynamics at play in the region and raises important questions about the true motivations behind foreign military involvement on the continent.

The African continent has abundant and unused land. Agriculture in the African continent employs most of the population in many African countries in mainly subsistence agriculture, however there has been a growing call for the African continent to develop and scale the agriculture sector sector to attract many youths and government agricultural projects should be funded and farmers. According to experts the African continent has lost its focus and now focuses on oil and gas leaving the African continent to rely on foreign food imports to feed the continent. African continent population is estimated to grow rapidly by 2050 and the continent may face food shortage if not happening already. In this episode the head of the African development bank has joined that call for the urgent need for the African continent and countries to accelerate its agriculture production and fund its farmers.

To say that South Africa stands on a pedestal that sets her apart from most other African nations, is beyond questioning. The country has produced one of the greatest leadership icons in the world; Nelson Mandela. But what are major natural resources in S.A, watch!

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is rich in natural resources, yet the average citizen lives on only 72 cents a day. The foreign mining companies are getting rich while the general population is living in poverty. Many Congolese citizens are diging through the dirt on their hands and knees in search their fair share of the countries natural minerals. While there are taxes on the mining companies who benefit from the countries resources it is proving difficult to actually collect the money that is owed. Vocativ spoke to one tax inspector who explained that tax evasion and government fraud is rampant throughout the mining industry. So it seems that until those benefiting from the countries natural wealth start paying their fare share, many average citizens will have to continue digging through the mud to get by.

Burkina Faso’s 35-year-old President Ibrahim Traore has set social media ablaze with his comments lamenting how Africa, despite all of its richness in natural resources, is still so poor that its leaders have to travel to the West to beg for aid. He made these comments while attending the second edition of the just-ended Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, that took place from July 27th-July 28th, 2023. President Ibrahim Traore, who is Africa’s youngest president, also stressed the need for African countries to forge new alliances moving forward to guarantee a brighter future for their people.
Said to have been a shy but intelligent boy in school, Burkina Faso's Captain Ibrahim Traoré is one of the most recent military commanders to capture power in a coup in one of France's former colonies in West Africa. Traoré was part of the group of army officers that supported the January 2022 Burkina Faso coup d'état and brought the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration military junta to power. From March 2022, he served as the head of an artillery regiment in Kaya, the fifth largest city in Burkina Faso, lying northeast of Ouagadougou. However, he was catapulted onto the world stage after overthrowing his ex-comrade Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Damiba on September 30th, 2022, accusing him of breaking his vow to put an end to the Islamist conflict that has plagued Burkina Faso since 2015.
