-Top10 tech hubs in Africa. TOP TEN TECHNICALLY ADVANCED COUNTRIES IN AFRICA 2022. Africa has the world's oldest record of human technological achievement: the oldest stone tools in the world have been found in eastern Africa, and later evidence for tool production by our hominin ancestors has been found across West, Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa. however, Africa is still lagging in technology and innovation advancement compared to other regions of the world, because of the relatively little attention to science and technology. technology has become a strong catalyst in both human and economic development, Globally, technological progress is accelerating at a breakneck pace, and the governments are molding their policies and investing vividly towards a greater human capital and innovative technology, especially after the 2020 CONVID 19 pandemic that caused a huge loss and hindrance in the global economy. In this case, Africa is not left behind in the race, there has been an effort to catch up to the rat race of technical advancement. Number 10 Uganda. The Ugandan Government is determined to encourage more innovations and over 20yrs, the country has seen considerable advances in science and technology. In the early 2000s, Uganda has been ranked among the top three countries with advanced technological and innovation capabilities in Africa, according to a study conducted by Martin Prosperity Institute of the US. Uganda is second to South Africa and followed by Madagascar. Number 8. Ghana: Ghana’s progress in the last 12 years has been inspiring, particularly in terms of technology. Ghana has developed its technology to produce solutions in economic growth rate at a higher rate than its neighboring nations. In 2017, students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology developed a solar-powered vehicle for transport called “aCar” to further explore the transportation needs of the country. Number 5. Egypt. Egypt has always been associated with the invention, as it is regarded as the cradle of world civilization. Many scientific and technological breakthroughs are credited to ancient Egypt. Egypt has not failed to impress us in terms of technological growth in our day and age. Egypt, which has some of Africa’s greatest institutions and conducts high-level scientific research, has widely adopted the use of technology in all of its industries. 1. South Africa: For several years, South Africa has held the title of most innovative and technologically advanced African country. It is ranked 60th in The Global Competitiveness Report (GCR) 2019 rankings, with a score of 62.4. The country is also ranked 61 in the 2021 Global Innovation Index, with a score of 32.7, and is the first in Africa. 4. Nigeria. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, has seen tremendous technological advancements. The surprise in her story is that many of these ideas are still being developed on a small basis, with little or no investment. The Urine Powered Generator generates 6 hours of electricity from 1 liter (0.264 gallons (US) of pee. Duro-Aina Adebola, Akindele Abiola, Faleke Oluwatoyin, and Bello Eniola, four 14-year-old high school students, created an ingenious approach. The process uses urea electrolysis to produce hydrogen, which is subsequently used to generate power ~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Sharon has spent her career working in technology for development and the innovation ecosystem in her home country Kenya. When she moved to Germany, she was surprised to find that some people had no idea of the technology revolution that was happening on the African continent. In her talk, she attempts to challenge the stereotypes we often hear about Africa, while sharing some examples from her own experience of how technology solutions are positively transforming lives on the continent. She also shares some ideas on what needs to be done to support young Africans as they build the future of the continent. Sharon is a Kenyan engineer, program manager and innovation enthusiast. She currently works as an innovation manager for a German company, building partnerships between the company and startups, with a focus on Africa. She is a Fellow of the Techwomen program - an initiative by the U.S. Department of State for Education and Cultural Affairs and the IIE; and the Afrika Kommt! Program - an initiative of German industry for future leaders from Africa. Sharon is the founder of the Jedimu Elimu Trust, an organisation that supports education and economic empowerment projects in the home region where she grew up - (Website www.jedimutrust.org) Sharon is a passionate ICT4D advocate. She is a founding member of the Kenya Flying Labs and recently founded the Jedimu Elimu Trust to support education and economic empowerment projects in her community.

Technology is one of the most powerful tools in achieving the promise of the 2030 development agenda “Leave no one behind”. For communities that are living in over-exploited and consequently under developed regions of the world, it is critical that we explore the correct application of technology solutions to address challenges and create opportunities for better education, healthcare, disaster management and overall to empower communities out of material poverty.

Standing on a TEDx stage for me is about sharing, connecting and learning. Participating in the TEDx conference is an opportunity to share and connect with other people who have the same passion, while learning from them and sparking an interest in those who are also curious to learn something new. Africa missed out on the first three Industrial Revolutions and is at risk of missing the Fourth if decisive action is not taken. The digital revolution will not only reinforce the existent divides but create new ones. That means for Africa to realize the promise of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it will need to invest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, as well as Research and Development, to create environments that promote African innovations.

The UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) has embarked on a strategic agenda that identified six priorities with great potential to enhance Africa’s development.

The strategic agenda is clustered around six thematic areas, including Science Technology and Innovation, with focus on closing the gap on digital literacy and digital divide; tackling intellectual property rights to leapfrog development.

In January of 2019, Ghana, a country with nearly no military pretenses, took the world by storm - but perhaps not for the best reasons. During the 38th annual Technology Exhibition organized by the Kantanka Company, the corporation's most advanced technologies were displayed.

An Armored Personnel Carrier safeguarding a group of soldiers armored with exoskeletons rolled before the eyes of a hypnotized audience, with the event calling for a solemn attitude and igniting national pride among the attendees.

But as the soldiers waddled clumsily through the parade, amateurs and experts the world over pointed at an obvious yet sad truth - the event was not a custom show but a very serious exhibition of military prowess...

Kenya's Home Grown 3D Printing Technology Takes The World By Storm. When it comes to innovation and creativity, borders are nothing but mere lines on a map. This is exemplified by the incredible story of Peter Miria, a talented inventor based in Ruiru, just outside Nairobi, who has built a game-changing four-headed 3D printer from the comfort of his own home.
Miria's amazing creation is set to revolutionize local manufacturing and put Kenya on the map as a hub for cutting-edge technology. Despite the high cost of 3D printers, which has been a significant hindrance to their mass adoption, Miria's homemade device is set to change all that.

While working on designing a smart, economical wheelchair, the innovator realized that the most affordable and straightforward way to create it was through 3D printing. Despite the existence of high-quality printers on the market, their expensive price tags could make them inaccessible to many. Therefore, the idea of building his own 3D printer that could print multiple items simultaneously took shape. The innovator preheats the printing bed to 200 degrees, applies a light layer of filament to the extruders, and adds glue to the glass bed for more robust adhesion. Using a secure digital card, he inserts instructions into the printer to begin the process of completing a print, which can take as little as a few minutes from the design stage.

Ancient Africa inventions in science and technology which changed the world - Archeologists have reported various sources of evidence demonstrating the existence of scientific knowledge in ancient Africa. There were amazing scientific inventions in ancient Africa prior to the Egyptian civilization, ranging from mathematical sciences and astronomy to materials engineering and medicine. Unfortunately, the vast majority of discussions about the origins of science only include Greeks, Romans, and other whites. However, the majority of their discoveries occurred thousands of years after African development. While Egypt's remarkable civilization is still captivating, there were sophistication and impressive inventions throughout ancient Sub-Saharan Africa as well, although only a few are aware of these achievements because Africa's history, beyond Ancient Egypt, is rarely publicized. Our video today looks into some “Great achievements in science and technology in ancient Africa.”

Top 10 Greatest African Inventions

Hello Displorers, Welcome back to another video and thanks for watching. In this video, we will be presenting to you the Top 10 greatest African inventions. Africa has the world’s oldest record of human technological achievement: the oldest stone tools in the world have been found in eastern Africa, and later evidence for tool production by our hominine ancestors has been found across Sub-Saharan Africa. The history of science and technology in Africa since then has, however, received relatively little attention compared to other regions of the world, despite notable African developments in mathematics, metallurgy, architecture, and other fields .Africa has brought about a lot of innovative solutions and is improving its technology to match that of the western nations and has no shortage of aspiring and creative minds. There are so many amazing inventions that hail from the African continent which the rest of the world isn’t aware of. Here are some of the greatest, proudly African inventions.

If you are new here, Welcome be sure to subscribe and turn on notification so you don’t miss any of our videos.

So in no particular order, here are the Top 10 African Inventions

10. Mathematics

The invention of mathematics is placed firmly in African prehistory. The oldest known possibly mathematical object is the Lebombo bone, which was discovered in the Lebombo Mountains of Swaziland and dated to approximately 35,000 B.C. Many of the math concepts that are learned in school today were also developed in Africa. Over 35,000 years ago, Ancient Egyptians scripted textbooks about math that included division and multiplication of fractions and geometric formulas to calculate the area and volume of shapes.

9. CAT Scan Machine

The CAT scan is an unbelievable African invention that is widely used around the world in the medical field. This technology was invented by a South African called Allan Cormack. However, the idea was developed and made commercial in the United Kingdom. The inventor was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for his invention. The CAT scan, the electronic detectors, and X-ray sources are rotated around the body and in the process, the radiologist gets a sharp map of the cross-section (tissue slices) of the body.

8. Cybertracker

One amazing innovation that also has its origins in philanthropy is the cybertracker. After spending time with the San people, Louis Liebenberg was urged to assist the traditional hunter-gatherers in preserving their knowledge and innate tracking abilities through the help of technology. Cybertracker software was developed which enables trackers to get jobs in ecotourism, as rangers in anti-poaching units, in wildlife monitoring and scientific research. The software has an icon-based UI that enables non-literate trackers to record complex geo-referencing and animal behavior observations. The invention has become a keystone in job creation for indigenous African communities and crucial in anti-poaching and conservation initiatives throughout the world.

7. Cardiopad

Another amazing invention of African technology is the Cardiopad which was invented by a Cameroonian entrepreneur called Marc Arthur the very first touch screen medical tablet invented and made in Africa. It is a computer tablet that is used for heart examinations. The gadget allows such examinations as electrocardiograms to be conducted in the rural and inaccessible locations. With the Cardiopad, electrodes are placed on the patient and connected to the model that, in turn, connects to the tablet. When a medical examination is performed on a. Patients in a remote village, for example, the results are transmitted from the nurse’s tablet to that of the doctor who then interprets them. The gadget is mostly used in areas where very urgent diagnostic tests need to be carried out but are inaccessible.

6. Quiet Cellular Antenna Technology

This is one of the most intriguing African inventions. Paul van Jaarsveld and Gordon Mayhew, who are South Africans were the brains gifted us. The quiet cellar antennae technology has a square kilometer array plan that reduces noisy cellular emissions from base stations used by cellular companies. This African Technology is based on one phased-array principle that blocks radio frequency transmissions along a given direction and also provides omni-directional coverage. The antenna has been tested in other parts of the world and has worked extremely well. Trail measurements have shown the radio signal frequency levels can be significantly reduced while at the same time maintaining the original GSM coverage. The SKA is projected to be 50 to 100 times more sensitive than other radio telescope ever built, and an area without much radio emissions is essential for the success of the project.
