Journey through Africa with revisited desert blues masters Ali Farka Toure, Tinariwen, Fatoumata Diawara, Rokia Traore and many more.

This organic house and ethno house mix came together as a tribute to some of my favourite musical and spiritual desert blues masters.

I named it Africafé as a symbol of its afro influence as well as the mood uplifting feel it will leave you with. A careful selection of ethno and organic edits allowed to also give a modern feel to this organic house & desert blues mix.

The picture was generated after numerous iterations and perfections through Midjourney. The intent was to portrait a smiling Tuareg man holding a guitar with the Sahara desert and a starry sky in the background.

The desert represents the roots of where this music comes from and the moving universe is to symbolise the universality of music. It moves and moves us with it, regardless of geographical, cultural and social boundaries. We are all one.

The Masaka Kids Africana is composed of African children, from the age of 2 and up. Many have lost one or both parents through the devastation of war, famine and disease. They represent all the children of a continent and they demonstrate the potential of African children to become strong leaders for a better future in their land.
The children melt the hearts of audiences with their charming smiles and delightful African tunes, accompanied by vibrant dance moves. Nearly every performance is concluded with a thunderous standing ovation. A marvelous by-product of the concert is the inspiration the music brings to virtually every listener. In spite of the tragedy that has marred their young lives, the children are radiant with hope, musically gifted and wonderfully entertaining.

We rely on the generosity of our extended family — people like you — so we can educate, feed, clothe and support all of our children. Every dollar we save from our performance is also a dollar earned for the continued care of our kids. Our music and dance troupe children will soon begin training again during their school term breaks and over select weekends. Show your support of music and advocacy – it’s so easy to do.

Gidesi  Chalamanda  (born 1930), is most commonly known as “Giddes” He is a Malawian acoustic artist. He was born in Chiradzulu in the Southern region of Malawi. He is one of Malawi’s legendary artists. In the lyrics to his song “Buffalo soldier”, he mentions that if he had enough money he would travel to  America. In 2016, with the help of fans, friends and Malawian organizations both in Malawi and in the Malawian Diaspora, he was able to achieve this dream when he traveled to the US with musicians Davis ndi Edgar. He held a concert at the Black Rock Center for the Arts in the “Pulse of Malawi” concert which celebrated Malawian independence day in Germantown MD

Sona Jobarteh performed in Weimar on invitation of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar and its UNESCO Chair of Transcultural Music Studies (TMS). The TMS Chair regularly invites artists to bring the musicology students into contact with various musical cultures for inspiration and exchange. Sona Jobarteh is the first female Kora virtuoso to come from a west African Griot family. The Kora is one of the most important instruments belonging to the Manding peoples of West Africa (Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau). It belongs exclusively to griot families, and usually only men who are born into these families have the right to take up the instrument professionally. Sona Jobarteh combines various genres of African Music and western musical elements.
