The Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) has decided to impose sanctions on individuals in the military government of Guinea in response to last year's coup in Conakry.

The leaders from the bloc met in New York where they were attending the UN General Assembly.
They agreed at the emergency summit Thursday to impose gradual sanctions on Guinea's junta over its inflexibility in setting a date to return to civilian rule.

A meeting summary said that the leaders agreed on "gradual sanctions" on a list of people linked to the Guinean junta who will be identified "very soon" by the bloc's leadership.

Rumours of the death of South Sudanese president have been dispelled by the presidency on Wednesday and a subsequent tour of the capital Juba by Salva Kiir.

Late on Saturday 16 March 2024, Niger’s military junta announced that it has ended an accord with the US that allowed military personnel and civilian staff from the US Department of Defense to operate in Niger. When it boils right down to it, Papua New Guinea (PNG) is one of the most interesting locations I’ve ever travelled to. Although I had an idea of what to expect, like the endless miles of beautiful and challenging terrain, I was blown away by what lay in store for us.

Of all the things to say about PNG, the amazingly rich culture is what really stood out to me. Getting to know the locals, dance with them and celebrate with them, was truly an honor and is something I will remember forever.
