In this video i show you Dakar, the capital city of Senegal like never seen before. I started the tour from one end of the Dakar peninsula called Almades and headed to the other end of the city where the administrative capital is located so you can see how developed Senegal is. Then later we will proceed to the center point of the city to see the most popular residential neighbourhood with highrise complexes that will surprise you.

With a population of over 16 million people, Senegal is a vibrant and welcoming nation that showcases the essence of West African charm. Dakar, the capital city of Senegal, serves as the cultural and economic hub of the country. It showcases a blend of modern infrastructure, bustling markets, and historical landmarks. The iconic African Renaissance Monument stands tall, symbolizing the nation's aspirations for progress and unity. Gorée Island, a short distance from Dakar, is a poignant reminder of the transatlantic slave trade and a place of remembrance and reflection.

As you delve into the heart of Dakar, you will be immersed in its vibrant and colorful culture. The city pulsates with a lively atmosphere fueled by music, dance, and art. Dakar's art scene is impressive, with numerous galleries showcasing the works of both established and emerging artists, offering a glimpse into the creativity and diversity and talent of Senegalese people.

TOUBAKOUTA, SENEGAL - Today we’re in the village of Toubakouta in southern Senegal, West Africa. We’ll be cooking and eating a dish called C’est Bon (That’s Good!), also known as Thiebou Diola. It includes rice, fried and grilled fish, pounded hibiscus leaves, and the world’s most addictive onion sauce with mustard. This is one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in West Africa and I can’t wait to share it all with you!

So again we’re in Toubakouta, Senegal, a small and relaxing riverside village in the southern part of Senegal.

C’est Bon, which literally translates from French as That’s Good is the name of the dish that’s beloved in Southern Senegal. It’s named that for a reason, it really is that good. The process of cooking it is complex with so many different components included. Some of the ingredients I loved most were the onions, garlic, goana chilies, lots of black pepper, and lime juice. The fish was first coated in a spice paste, shallow fried in oil, and then charcoal grilled to give it an incredible smoky fiery taste.

One of the spectacular parts of Senegalese food is the assembly of the platter. And C’est Bon is a West African food with so many components that makes it special. Rice, fried fish, hibiscus leaves, onions sauce, and finally a drizzle of fragrant palm oil to bring the flavors together.

It was truly a magical meal experience, incredible flavors and another spectacular meal in Senegal, West Africa!

Kneeling before the camera an RUF guerrilla sends out his prayer. "Let the world understand that we are freedom fighters...that we are not hooligans." But picking the truth from the propaganda is a muddied business in this dangerous nation. Filming in the guerrilla controlled area we listen to the side widely accused of atrocities. Sam Bockery, commander of the RUF, maintains that they are misrepresented: "Civilians are blasted with [ECOMOG] mines so they go and say we are maiming civilians." Gruesome scenes of bloodied victims filmed during an ECOMOG bombing campaign testify to the casualties wrought by their aerial bombardment. The RUF say they fight for the people, for a state that will invest the nations rich mineral wealth into schools and hospitals. They say foreign support of Kabbah through ECOMOG and private mercenaries is just a cynical skirmish over mining rights. By stepping-up their campaign they hope the world will listen to their version of events. But whether victory by them would mean a better future for Sierra Leoneons is in as much doubt as their well being under Kabbah.
