AFCON | Burkina Faso tops Group D after beating Mauritania

Burkina Faso went top of Group D in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament after beating Mauritania 1-0 in Bouake, Ivory Coast. The only goal of the match was scored by Bertrand Traore from the penalty spot in injury time. Playing in their third AFCON in a row, Mauritania are still to score a goal in the AFCON tournament from open play. Their first participation in the AFCON was in Egypt in 2019, then they managed to qualify for their second successive tournament as they also took part in Cameroon in 2021.
