Gambia foiled coup attempt, four soldiers arrested for plotting govt overthrow • FRANCE 24 English
The Gambia's government said on Wednesday it had foiled a military coup attempt the previous day, in what is believed to be the latest effort across West Africa to overthrow a ruling regime. The government of continental Africa's smallest state said in a statement that four soldiers had been arrested and that the situation was "fully under control".
