Liberia president under pressure from US charges against allies

Liberian President George Weah is facing a backlash over his handling of corruption accusations by the United States against three Liberian top officials.
Weah suspended the accused officials after the US treasury announced sanctions on them for public corruption.
While Weah’s government blames the Ukraine crisis and COVID-19, members of civil society say corruption and mismanagement of public funds are the real culprits.
