Opening Ceremony of the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of AU, RECs and Regional Mechanisms

The 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU), Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and Regional Mechanism has begun with the opening ceremony. H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, delivered an important statement, followed by H.E. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, and H.E. Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, who shared their respective statements. H.E. Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the AU, concluded the ceremony with his opening statement. The meeting will be convened under the AU theme of the year 2023 “Acceleration of African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation”.
