Pro-Palestinians call for SA government to sever ties with Israel

Two Pro-Palestinian events have taken place in Cape Town calling for a free Palestine, amid the hostilities between Israel and Hamas. Violence has escalated after Hamas at the weekend launched the biggest attack on Israel from Gaza in years, killing more than a thousand people. Israel has launched attacks in retaliation and has declared a total siege of Gaza. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign and BDS South Africa have staged a picket outside the offices of the Cape Jewish Board of Deputies in Cape Town, while earlier a silent vigil was held on the steps of the St George's Cathedral.
