The Congo Free State was the private property of King Leopold the Second. It was a colony in the Congo Basin that existed for only 23 years. His dominion over the 30 Million Congolese people resulted in the deaths of millions in pursuit of profit. Mutilations, slavery and disease were rampant as the worst of European Colonialism.

Patrice Lumumba (1925-1961) was a Congolese politician and independence leader who served as the first Prime Minister of the independent Democratic Republic of the Congo (then Republic of the Congo) from June, 1960 to September, 1960. An avid anti-colonialist and anti-imperialist Lumumba dedicated his life for the liberation of Congolese people.

Zande is the largest of the Zande languages. It is spoken by the Azande, primarily in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and western South Sudan, but also in the eastern part of the Central African Republic. It is called Pazande in the Zande language and Kizande in Lingala.
