Join our Leopard hunt in one of the most isolated places on Earth. These areas are extremely big and hard to hunt, the cats are smart and travel all over. It's a big challenge.

We were unsuccessful in getting a Leopard, but please still enjoy this movie and see how much work goes into a hunt like this. Kabous did an excellent job for Jamy Traut. Although not much was shot during this hunt, it still was an experience of a lifetime.

Zebra hunt: 11:45

ASP can capture your hunt also, please contact us at info@africansunproductions.com for more info.

Namibia is a country located on the southwestern coast of Africa.
Officially known as the Republic of Namibia, it borders Angola in the north, Zambia in the northeast, Botswana in the east, South Africa in the east and south, and lastly the Atlantic Ocean in the west. Being the country with the second lowest population density in the world, it has a population of about 2.7 million people. As expected of an African country, about 85% of the population is black, 5% of European ancestry and others are referred to as the Coloreds. Half of the population comes from the Ovambo ethnicity while others come from the Damara, Herero and Himba groups. Namibian whites are generally of German, British, Afrikaner and mixed origin. About thirteen languages are spoken in the country of which eight are recognized as national languages with English Language as the official language.
This helps to ease communication among groups and foster national unity. Most Namibians speak two or more indigenous languages as well as a little of the three European languages (English, Afrikaans and German).
Christianity is the most practiced religion with about 80%-90% of the population belonging to the faith. Protestants make up about 75% of the Christians while others belong to Catholic, Anglican, Methodist and other denominations. The remaining populace practice Islam, Judaism or traditional religion. Before Europeans landed in Namibia, the San, Damara and Nama people were the first inhabitants of the deserts of Namibia before the Bantu tribe started moving in from central Africa in the 14th century.
The 18th century witnessed the influx of the Oorlam people from Cape Colony into what is known as Southern Namibia with accompanying missionaries. They were shown hospitality by the Nama tribe and they continued their exploration together; however, they were not so lucky with the Gobabis, OvaHerero and Okahandja who denied them access to their lands. This led to the Nama-Herero War in 1880 which was subdued by German troops and the dispute was settled. Although some Portuguese navigators explored the area between 1485 and 1486, they did not attempt to colonize the area. It wasn’t until the 19th century that Europeans from Germany and Sweden started traversing the area for trade and some settled there. Otto von Bismarck of Germany colonized Namibia in 1884 in order to prevent the British from colonizing the lands, so it was known as German South West Africa at that time.

REMEMBERING THE NAMIBIA HEROES

Script by: MICT - Mathew Vatilifa

South African apartheid regime’s Failure in Namibia is well demonstrated through the vast areas that were controlled by the Namibian People’s Liberation Movement better know as PLAN. The PLAN fighters, which were a SWAPO military wing, liberated these areas.

Every inch of the vast areas controlled by SWAPO in the northern part of our country was fought for, to free it from the most powerful military power at the time. The South African Army had total support from the NATO countries, and it is for this reason the PLAN Fighter’s success came as a hard blow to all imperialist powers in Southern Africa.

It was in September 1965 when the South West African Liberation Army established its first training camp on South West African soil, at Omugulugwombashe, at the time, SWALA numbered only about 250 personnel, most of whom were still undergoing training at Kongwa.

The insurgents at Omugulugwombashe succeeded in recruiting only about 30 locals before the location of their camp was compromised to the South African Forces that later attacked demolished the camp.
The attack of the training camp in Omugulu-gwombashe marks the first military battle between PLAN and the South African forces, hence the importance of this day in the Namibian History.

Since the first bullet that initiated the armed struggle on the 26th of August 1966, when South African forces launched a 23-year long war against the South West African People’s Organization better know as SWAPO of Namibia at Omugulu-gwombashe many Namibians inside and abroad has contributed impressively to fight the apartheid regime.

The South African racist Army was much more equipped than the PLAN Military. And for many years the Apartheid South Africa have been importing heavy artilleries in huge quantities from the western world. This meant that the South African Apartheid military force had a large arsenal and managed to gather huge war materials to be used against the SWAPO’s Military wing and any military force opposing apartheid.

The war waged on for so long that to some the picture of independence started to become dim and dull. CASINGA was the enemy’s final attempt to derail independence for the Namibia People

In spite of their superiority regarding weapons, PLAN fighters’ success on the battle field showed the racist regime that they were incapable of reaching its goal which was to eradicated the Namibian Liberation Movement and once again it has proven that the strength of organized people against colonies can defeat a superior colonial powerhouse.

However it is very important to remember that before the total liberation of Namibia was reached many battles were fought and many sacrifices where made. Thank You to the heroic people of Namibia and the solidarity with all peace loving people of the world that enable Namibia to achieve it’s independence.

Namibians continue to pay homage to the selfless contributions of this heroes and heroines who spearheaded the liberation struggle and gave their lives for our freedom.

Lion Pride Documentary - The Realm of the Desert Lion | Namibia Safari Full HD
#wildplanet #lion #documentary
-------------------------
Africa’s Namib Desert is a harsh and unforgiving place, home to shifting, barren sand dunes, jagged mountains, and gravel plains. The vast desert — whose name means “place of no people” in the local Khoikhoi language — covers nearly 100,000 square miles and stretches along some 1,200 miles of the coast of western Namibia, in southern Africa. In the ancient 55-million-year-old desert, the world’s oldest, rainfall is scarce (less than 2 tenths of an inch per year in the west), and there is no surface water and just a few dry riverbeds.

And, yet, surprisingly, the Namib is a living place, home not just to the big cats featured in The Desert Lions, but to an impressive array of plants and animals. In the Namib live gemsboks (oryx) and springboks, ungulates that can avoid drinking water for weeks at a time by ceasing to sweat, plus a large number of small rodents and reptiles and a stunning diversity of beetles — which, like desert vegetation, have devised techniques to condense water out of the western desert’s distinctive, eerie, and life-giving morning fog. The fog is produced when the cool waters of the offshore Benguela Current interact with the warmer air over the desert. The Benguela also moderates the desert’s climate; temperatures in the searing, arid desert rarely rise over 104 degrees Fahrenheit (but can drop to near freezing at night).
