Fathima, a strong- minded woman, is the lead masseuse of a hammam in Algiers. This is 1995 and the situation is tense in the capital .The day ahead promises to be hectic for all, and for Fathima in particular. She also witnesses a terrorist attack. At the hammam Fathima should feel better, but the atmosphere proves electric in her small enclosed world .She has great difficulty in maintaining order. Then Meriem a sixteen-year-old pregnant girl comes to take shelter at the hammam as her brother is chasing her.

അള്ജിaയേഴ്സിലെ ടര്ക്കിeഷ് സ്റ്റീം ബാത്ത് കേന്ദ്രത്തില്‍ ( ഹമാം) മസ്സാജറായി ജോലിചെയുകയാണ് ഫാത്തിമ . കഥ നടക്കുന്നത് 1995ലാണ്. തലസ്ഥാനം പ്രക്ഷുഭ്ധമായ സമയം . അടുത്ത ദിവസം ഫാത്തിമയുള്‍പ്പെടെ എല്ലാവര്ക്കും തിരക്കേറിയതാണെന്ന് ഉറപ്പാണ്‌. അവള്‍ ഒരു തീവ്രവാദി ആക്രമണത്തിനും ദൃക്സാക്ഷിയാവുകയാണ്. സാധാരണ ഗതിയില്‍ ഫാത്തിമയ്ക്ക് ആശ്വാസം ലഭിക്കുന്ന ഹമാമിലും അന്തരീക്ഷംസ്ഫോടനാത്മകമാകുന്നതോടെ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാക്കാന്‍ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകയാണ് . അതേസമയം, തന്നെ പിന്തുടരുന്ന സഹോദരനില്‍ നിന്ന് രക്ഷതേടി പതിനാറു വയസ്സുള്ള ഗര്ഭിുണിയായ മിറിയവും ഹമാമിലെത്തുന്നു.

En Algérie, Zouina (Fejria Deliba) fait un adieu en larmes à sa mère alors qu'elle entreprend un voyage en France pour retrouver son mari. Dans une ville de province, elle tente d'élever ses trois enfants sous le regard flétri de sa belle-mère, Aicha (Rabia Mokeddem), qui insiste sur une éducation musulmane stricte. Zouina fait de son mieux pour s'assimiler, mais reste coincée entre ses proches traditionalistes et ses voisins xénophobes. Elle vit le dimanche, quand elle a quelques heures de liberté.

In Algeria, Zouina (Fejria Deliba) bids a tearful goodbye to her mother as she embarks on a voyage to France to be reunited with her husband. In a provincial town, she attempts to rear her three children under the withering glare of her mother-in-law, Aicha (Rabia Mokeddem), who insists on a strict Muslim upbringing. Zouina does her best to assimilate, but is stuck between her traditionalist relatives and her xenophobic neighbors. She lives for Sundays, when she has a few hours of freedom.

Film de type comédie algérienne, produit en 1989 et tournée en grande partie dans la ville de Bousaada, avec Athmane Ariouat, Ouardia et Yahia Ben Mabrouk. Né en 1932 à Barika, Othmane Ariouat fera ses débuts en théâtre à la fin des années 60 et entrera au conservatoire d’Alger entre 1969 et 1972. Ce n’est qu’en 1989 qu’il conquerra à tout jamais le public algérien avec son remarquable travail d’interprétation dans le film El taxi el makhfi dans lequel il incarne le rôle du héros. Le film, réalisé par Bakhti Benamar raconte le quotidien d’un chauffeur de taxi clandestin, qui, comme ses milliers de confrères, tente de gagner son pain en achetant le silence des policiers. Ariouat y joue avec un humour accrocheur en toute simplicité et ne laisse personne indifférent.
