Zimbabwean journalist and activist, Hopewell Chin'ono, has criticised what he terms ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula's stifling of public discourse around the Zimbabwean elections.
Chin'ono claims that he is in possession of information that Mbalula blocked Wits University's OR Tambo School of Leadership from hosting Zimbabwean academic, Ibbo Mandaza, from conducting a lecture scheduled for today on last month's elections in the neighbouring country.
Chin'ono says Zimbabweans are disappointed with the ANC. The head of the SADC Election Observer Mission to Zimbabwe, Nevers Mumba, has called on those criticising its report to allow the body to process it.
Mumba says the critics' accusation that the observer team was biased, are unfounded.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar during his interaction with the Indian Community in Tanzania on July 6, stressed the importance of Mission IT (India and Tanzania) while interacting with the members of the Indian community here, saying that he was in the country on an "IT mission, as in India-Tanzania mission. "Today we want to see Africa grow. We want to see African economies grow. And our approach to Africa today is to trade more with Africa, invest in Africa, work with Africa, to create capacities in Africa, so that the rise of Africa also takes place as countries like India are rising in Asia. We are not here as an extractive economy. We are not here in the manner in which a lot of other countries are there for very narrow economic objectives. For us, this is a broader, deeper partnership. And this is today, actually how the world also sees India. World sees India as a contributor. World sees India, Indian companies, Indian technologies, and Indian capacities as helping to create better lives for them. I am on an IT Mission. All of you, as members of the Indian community living in Tanzania, working in Tanzania, and visiting Tanzania, I think you can hold your head high that our friendship, our relationship, and our partnership today will make a difference to the everyday life of a Tanzanian," Jaishankar said. Earlier, in Tanzania, the EAM visited Stone Town in Zanzibar and experienced its distinctive Gujarat connection. He also visited the Kiduthani project that will provide drinking water to 30,000 households in Zanzibar. The six projects India is involved in will give drinking water access to a million Zanzibaris. The External Affairs Minister also attended a deck reception hosted onboard INS Trishul with Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi. In Tanzania, Jaishankar also witnessed the signing of the agreement on setting up of IIT Madras Zanzibar campus. Jaishankar is on a four-day official visit to Tanzania, which will culminate on July 8.
