President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, said a clerical error is responsible for discrepancies on the certificate issued to him by the Chicago State University.

According to Tinubu’s lawyers, an unidentified clerk of the university made the error about the date, the school stated on his recently-issued certificate.

Tinubu’s lawyer argued that the University incorrectly wrote the date of graduation as June 27th 1979 instead of June 22, 1979, along with a change in the university’s logo, which created the appearance of differences between an earlier issued diploma and the one issued in response to a 2022 subpoena.

The claim is in their response to a suit filed by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar seeking the disclosure of Tinubu’s academic records from the university.

The management of the National Youth Service Corps on Thursday confirmed that Hannatu Musawa, the minister of art, culture and creative economy, is a serving corps member.

The report follows a claim by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria a civil society organisation, that Musawa is undertaking the one-year mandatory youth service scheme while she is still a member of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's cabinet.

The National Bureau of Statistics, on Thursday, announced that there has been a sharp drop in Nigeria's unemployment rate.

The NBS says the figures are based on the new methodology of Labour Force Survey, undertaken in collaboration with the World Bank and International Labour Organisation.

In the yet to be certified transcript obtained by our sister publication , Thisday Newspapers, Carl Westberg, Chicago State University’s witness in the case of former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar’s request for the release of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s school records, told the court, that the diploma President Tinubu presented to INEC, was not like the ones issued by the university in 1979, but however looked more like those produced in the 1990s.

In one breath, Westberg claimed that CSU did not find any diploma issued by 1979 to Tinubu and in another breath claimed that the school had in its file the diploma dated June 27, 1979, which was the copy released last year to Enahoro-Ebah under the order of a US court.

As Nigeria marked its 63rd Anniversary on Sunday October 1st, a tanker laden with Premium motor Spirit driving along the Warri-Benin Road - fell with its content, spilling into a nearby swamp.

Some young people rushed to the scene to scoop fuel into jerry cans before long, an explosion erupted and fire engulfed the area, killing at least 12 people. A commuter who was at the scene of the incident shared her experience, while calling out federal government over negligence.

The president’s maiden speech, in which he approved a N25,000 Naira provisional wage increment for average low income workers elicited several reactions on social media. The chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, after a meeting with labour leaders, said owing to a lot of chatter on twitter, the federal government decided to expand the wage increase to all workers.

Labour union rejected the N25,000 thousand Naira provisional wage increment and in a bid to avert the planned indefinite nationwide strike set to commence on Tuesday October 3rd, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, approved N35,000 thousand Naira as the provisional wage increment for all treasury-paid federal government workers for the period of six months.

A United States District Court on Saturday, directed the Chicago State University to release the credentials of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to Nigeria’s Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, No later than today October 2nd.

Justice Nancy Maldonado of the US district Court, dismissed Tinubu’s objection to the September 20th decision of magistrate judge. Jeffery Gilbert, insisting that Atiku had the right to have access to the records/

She directed CSU to produce all relevant and non-privileged documents and also cautioned Tinubu that any request for a stay before the Court would be denied.

Atiku had asked for the documents for use in Nigerian courts to support his argument that Tinubu forged a diploma certificate he claimed to have obtained from CSU in 1979 and submitted to INEC, for the 2023 presidential election.

A video showing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, throwing an apparent jab at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for trying to block access to his academic records at the Chicago State University surfaced online.

Peter Obi was speaking to students of Princeton University, about the importance of good leadership, where boasted that his academic records can be verified.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has submitted fresh evidence before the Supreme Court against President Bola Tinubu. Atiku's documents accuse President Tinubu of forgery and perjury, seeking his disqualification and removal from office.

The evidence presented by the former vice president consists of academic records obtained from Chicago State University (CSU) in the United States, following an Illinois court order instructing the institution to release Tinubu's academic records.
