#rogersallstars #africansystemorchestra #highlife Listen to Tilda and Rocafill's Jazz in Oumba Africa a Spanish track in her Simple lady Album. Enjoy!
Tilda is a Cameroonian singer and dancer who was a member of the original Rocafil Jazz band. She released an updated version of the album "Sweet Mother" on Rogers All Stars in 2010. The original "Sweet Mother" is a highlife song by the Cameroonian and Nigerian singer Prince Nico Mbarga and his band Rocafill Jazz. Released in 1976, it remains one of the most popular songs in Africa, selling over 13 million copies. Some people felt that Tilda's version of the song was better than the original, while others found it a bit different. The music is West African highlife, with Congolese Soukous-style guitar. "Sweet Mother" went on to become one of the most popular hits in Africa.

Over the last two decades, the spectrum of music in the New Apostolic Church Southern Africa has broadened to include a greater variety of musical styles. Historically, we have a strong culture of traditional church and classical music, and much effort has gone into developing this music, both as a means of worship in divine services, and for concert purposes. Today we value this classical heritage, and we strive not only to preserve it, but to grow it.

In addition to classical music, we started to include lighter and more contemporary music in our concert programmes as well as our published repertoire for choirs and congregations. In this way, a greater variety of musical styles could be employed for the purpose of worshipping God and expressing faith. It gives worshippers who have different musical tastes, the opportunity to worship God with music for which they have a particular affinity.

By broadening our spectrum of music, we are able to embrace diversity in the expression of our worship without compromising the object of our worship, namely the triune God.

This performance was part of the 'O Happy day' gospel concert held in February 2014 at the Silvertown Auditorium in Athlone, Cape Town.

Composed by Steven Curtis Chapman/Bart Millard/Barry Graul: arr. Harold Ross Choir & Orchestra of the New Apostolic Church Southern Africa

"Holy Spirit, Living Breath of God" by Keith and Kristyn Getty is a spiritually powerful Christian worship song that emphasizes the influence of the Holy Spirit in believers' lives. Performed during the Pentecost divine service, conducted by Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider on the 28th of May 2023

It served as a poignant reminder of the Holy Spirit's role in the Christian faith. The song's lyrics and music create a reverent atmosphere, inviting believers to open their hearts to the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. This song beautifully expresses the idea that the Holy Spirit is the essence of God's presence, offering life, renewal, and guidance to believers.

The performance at Pentecost connects the historical event with the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit in believers' lives, making it a significant and moving experience. Keith and Kristyn Getty's rendition adds a personal touch, enhancing the worshipful atmosphere and drawing the audience into a deeper connection with the song's message.

Divine services for the departed take place three times a year, on the first Sunday of March, July, and November respectively. With this in mind, New Apostolic Christians also pray that souls who have died in an unredeemed state may find salvation in Christ. God's will to redeem encompasses all human beings.
On Sunday the 5th of March 2023, Apostle Gavin van der Hoven conducted the first divine service for the departed for the year 2023, in Silvertown, Athlone in Cape Town. During this divine service the hymn “Come, ye disconsolate” for soprano, tenor, choir and organ was performed.

A biblical foundation for the hymn is found in 2 Corinthians 1, especially verses 3-7, beginning with, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.”

Composed by Adam Geibel; arr. John Rodriques
Soprano: Christine Siljeur
Tenor: Adrian Manchest
Organist: Tristan Williams
Silvertown congregation choir
Conducted by Jason Atherton
