How to Watch Nigeria Super Eagles vs Sierra Leone Live – 2023 AFCON Qualifiers

Just get a point against Sierra Leone and secure qualification to the 2023 African Cup of Nations which will be played in 2024.
Take a look at the group standing, Guinea-Bissau top the group with 10 points from 5 games, Nigeria second with 9 points from 4 games, Sierra Leone third with 5 points from 4 games as well while Sao Tome and Principe are bottom with 1 point from 5 games.

There are 12 groups in this qualifiers, and only the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the African cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast by January 2024. Hence, Nigeria need at least a draw in this game to guarantee they qualify for next year’s AFCON and a win to take us back to the top of the group.

Our star player, Victor Osimhen is currently the top goal scorer at this qualifiers alongside Sadio Mane with 5 goals from 4 games.

The Super Eagles started this qualification campaign in June last year against Sierra Leone with Nigeria winning that game 2 goals to one. Sierra Leone scored first in that game before Iwobi equalized and Osimhen scored the winning goal. Our next game was a whooping 10-0 victory away against Sao Tome and Principe, our third game was a 1-0 loss to at home to Guinea Bissau, and out fourth game was a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture against Guinea Bissau.

Sierra Leone on the other hand started with a 2-1 loss against Nigeria, followed by a 2-2 draw against Guinea Bissau, followed by another 2-2 draw against Sao Tome and Principe, and in their fourth game they defeated Sao Tome and Principe away from home 2 goals to nil in the reverse fixture.

So far, Nigeria have scored 13 goals and conceded only twice from 4 games, while Sierra Leone have scored 7 goals and conceded 6 times from 4 games.
After this game, Nigeria will then play Sao Tome and Principe in the final game of the Qualifiers.

Let us see if our talented players like Victor Osimhen, Chukwueze, Awoniyi, Iwobi, Moses Simon, Joe Aribo among many others are able to find their rhythm against Sierra Leone. I expect a tough match, Sierra Leone also wants to qualify for the 2023 AFCON, so they won’t make it easy for the super eagles.

The time is now, for the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win an international friendly match since 2019 as they take on Mozambique on Monday the 16th of October by 4pm Nigerian time at the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira in Portugal.

Both Nigeria and Mozambique will also be participating at the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations which will be played in January 2024, with Nigeria in Group A alongside Hosts, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau. Mozambique on the other hand are in Group B alongside two difficult teams Egypt and Cape Verde and one other random country called Ghana.

Following this match, Nigeria is set to face Lesotho and Zimbabwe, while Mozambique will take on Botswana and Algeria next month during the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In our last game, we played a 2-2 draw against the Green Eagles of Saudi Arabia, and many would agree that we should have won that game, but we missed some key chances and made defensive errors that cost us the victory.

It has been reported that Victor Osimhen would miss this game due to injury, while Kelechi Iheanacho would also be unavailable for his game due to some pressing personal issues. However, this should not be a problem as we have other fantastic players like Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi, Moses Simon just to name a few.

For Nigeria, I would be expecting some changes in this game, hopefully we get to see players like Fisayo Dele Bashiru play his first game for Nigeria. And I also think many Nigerians are eager to see a change in the goalkeeper’s position during this match.

Over the course of their last seven matches, Mozambique experienced just one loss to Lesotho, managing to secure three wins and three draws. On the other hand, the Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded three wins, three losses, and one draw in their last 7 games.

But this time around they would be aiming for a win. The last time the Super Eagles faced Mozambique was back at the 2010 AFCON with Nigeria winning that game 3 goals to nil
For this match, I would also predict a 3-0 win for the Super Eagles. I have observed that Nigeria always finds a way to respond after every disappointing game.
