The Meru Rally has become the first event to be held in Kenya following the country's reinstatement to the World Rally Championship Circuit. Motor sport has for long been known as a dangerous but thrilling discipline. What happened in the eastern Kenya town on Saturday gave organisers of the 2020 WRC event an insight of what lies in store as CGTN's Mohamed Abubakar now reports.

#KenyaTravelGuide
Kenya is the original safari destination and remains one of the best places in Africa to see wild animals. Its bevy of iconic game reserves include the Maasai Mara, Amboseli National Park and both east and West Tsavo. Every year, millions of wildebeest and zebra migrate across the Tanzanian border into southern Kenya on the annual Great Migration, one of nature's most spectacular events. On the coast, historic Swahili settlements and white-sand beaches await.
Most overseas visitors enter Kenya through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport which is located in the capital city of Nairobi. Kenya Airways offers a direct flight to Nairobi from New York, while other major airlines that serve the airport include British Airways, Emirates, South African Airways, Ethiopian Airways, Air France and many others. As a matter of facts, Nairobi is one of the continent's biggest air travel hubs. Kenya Airways offers a full range of domestic flights as well.
Most nationalities will need a visa to enter Kenya, including visitors from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe. However, you can now apply for your visa online. The process is relatively quick and easy, and successful visas are valid for up to 90 days.
The best time to visit Kenya depends on what you want to do while you're there. For safari-goers, the long dry season from June to early October offers the best wildlife sightings. August is generally the month to travel if you want to watch the herds of the Great Migration cross the Mara River. The dry seasons are also best for visits to the coast or hikes up Mount Kenya, while the short rains from late October to November are great for birding as they bring exciting migrant species from Europe and Asia.

In 2018, Kenya hosted the International Civil Aviation Negotiations event for the first time in East and Central Africa region. ICAN2018 provided States with a central meeting place to conduct multiple bilateral (regional or plurilateral) air services negotiations or consultations.

It offers a forum for the participants to learn about current trends, discuss and exchange experiences, as well as providing excellent networking opportunities.

Negotiations between States/Regional Groups stay private

Kenya is full of amazing wildlife—giraffes and elephants, ostriches and hornbills. Cornell senior Sarah Toner visited last spring to film and record the abundant wildlife, and to witness field research in progress. Sarah first came to Cornell as part of our Young Birders Event in 2013.

Many thanks to sponsor ZEISS Birding for making the Young Birders Event possible over the last decade.
