Probably the most famous shipwreck of all time, the Titanic, wasn't, in fact, the scariest or the worst in history. On April 27, 1865, the Sultana Steamboat carried more than 2,000 people instead of the regular 350. So, there was a broken boiler, an excess number of passengers, a lack of lifeboats, and not the best river conditions. At 2 am, the broken boiler, unable to withstand the load, suddenly exploded. It didn't leave many survivors, but it was not the only disaster at sea.

Bursting on to the scene with style & sophistication, Brunch& launched its debut networking event, Brunch & Golf with huge success.

The 2-day event began at Fajara Golf & Country Club where attendees were introduced to the game of golf, coached by host of Gambia’s professional golfers and participated in a series of mini-competitions.

The Brunch & Day Party was then hosted at Plass-Bi where the exquisite buffet spread included local classics such as Olele & Akara as well as Afro-fusion & continental dishes. DJ Somel kept the party going with an old school vibe to the delight of the attendees.

Hoping to represent The Gambia at the Paralympic Games for a second time, Isatou Nyang is training hard. The Gambian is physically disabled and sits in a wheelchair but she is also a top level athlete.

At the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, Isatou Nyang became the first female athlete from The Gambia to compete. Despite her physically disability, her athletic talent is beyond doubt. But Isatou is also poor, and in Gambia welfare is hard to come by. As a disabled single mother with two children, her employment options are limited, and she has been forced to support her family through begging for years. But she continues to strive for the top: Isatou Nyang is training to compete in the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. A report by Dáša Raimanová.
