I have recently traveled to Uganda, a small and beautiful country in the center of Africa. There I have made this travel video to encourage people to come and visit Uganda. This country is definitely a very charming destination. Especially if you like animals. You will experience Gorillas, Rhinos as well as Hippos closer than ever before.

I appreciate your feedback about the video. This project is one of the rare occasions where I don't have any crew, but capture everything myself with the tiny Sony a6400.

Thank you to www.kalahari-afrika.de and www.acrossafrica.travel for making this trip possible.

In Uganda, illegal orphanages are a big business and needy children are often the lure.

Today, there are at least 300 unlicensed children’s homes throughout Uganda operating without government oversight. Their goal: foreign donations.

Websites and Facebook campaigns draw people in from around the world, asking them to sponsor children, volunteer, or sign up for travel packages.

The campaigns work. Uganda’s unregulated orphanages pull in nearly a quarter of a billion dollars a year from international donors — mainly from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Europe.

“The people here that decide to operate a home, they get unsuspecting people to pay,” Mondo Kyateka, an assistant commissioner for the government ministry tasked to regulate children’s institutions, told VICE News. “And they use donated money to make themselves richer.”

The promise of financial windfall has pushed homes to recruit as many kids as possible — often forcing children to share beds in overcrowded dorm buildings without adequate supervision. A lack of government oversight combined with the open door to foreign volunteers means there’s no safeguard to protect children from abuse.

Often, the children aren’t even orphans.

The 241,038km2 country is made up of places which have been attracting tourists and permanent residents for decades now making it such a hot spot in Africa. we were able to identify so many places which are favorite amongst tourists visiting the country but here are the 10 best places to visit in Uganda.
10. Ssese Islands
Located in Lake Victoria, this group of 84 islands is divided into the Bugala Group and Koome Group.A cocktail of golden sands worthy of Latin America, sun-kissed beaches and lapping waves, the archipelago of the Ssese Islands is Uganda’s answer to the tropical gems of the East African coast on the Indian Ocean.Peppering the waters of Lake Victoria, they are considered the country’s premier rest and relaxation spot, with the popular Buggala Island and Bulago coming up top of the menu. You can either kick-back in one of the lakeside resorts, or wax up the walking boots and make for the hills, where hippo-dotted swamps hide between the ridges.Kayaks and other watersports are also available on Buggala. With wildlife including primates, this is a perfect place to explore islands for the island lovers.
9. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park located in Southwestern Uganda really does live up to its namewith over 100 mammal species and over 300 species of birdsand offering Gorilla tracking, hiking, nature walks, mountain biking, bird watching and cultural tours. A land of rocky peaks and endless green, it’s covered in some of Africa’s oldest primeval forestry. The biodiversity think geckos next to gorillas next to a multitude of curious insects garnered the spot a UNESCO World Heritage tag, while most safari goers head this way in search of colobus monkeys and chimpanzees. The breathtaking landscapes are typical of the Albertine Rift. They rise and fall to untrodden valleys and summits, with quartzite massifs here and teak-shrouded riverways there. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is so dense that visitors can only explore it on foot. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to hundreds of mountain gorillas.
8. Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi is in south-western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale, and is close to the border with Rwanda. The lake appeared from 2004 to 2009 on the 5,000 Ugandan shilling note under the title "Lake Bunyonyi and terraces". Believed to be the second deepest lake in Africa after Lake Tanganyika, Lake Bunyonyi is a body of water in southwestern Uganda near the Rwandan border, and one of the country's top natural treasures. At 1,962m above sea level, the lake enjoys moderate temperatures year-round, cool in both the mornings and evenings.Lake Bunyonyi which means 'place of many little birds' is undoubtedly the loveliest lake in Uganda and there is a lot to see at Lake Bunyonyi. You can tour all the 29 islands, or visit the BaTwa and see their cultural show, or you can also visit a wonderful place called Kirangara, or to undertake a Motor Boat tour and enjoy "island - jumping". You can also see an incredible amount of different birds at Lake Bunyonyi. It is definitely a great place to enjoy all the wonders of nature such as water, plants, animals, reptiles, birds and more all at once.

7. Murchison Falls National Park
Named for the roaring cataracts that carve right through their middle, the wilds of the Murchison Falls National Park are unquestionably some of the most amazing in north-western Uganda. The protected area is actually the largest national park in the country, with a whopping count of nearly 4,000 square kilometers beth

European External Action Service (EEAS) representative, met Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, on the sidelines of the African Union - European Union Summit, taking place on 18 February 2022, in Brussels.

https://eudebates.tv/ #eudebates
EU seeks to boost Africa ties with eyes on Chinese, Russian competition. The European Union is aiming to convince the 40 African leaders in Brussels that Europe is their "most reliable partner".

EU and African leaders meet for a two-day summit on Thursday, seeking to reboot ties with pledges of major investment in the face of competition from China and Russia.

Relations between the two continents have been hampered by a raft of problems: from disputes over coronavirus vaccines, to curbing illegal migration, a wave of coups in Africa, the spread of jihadist terror and the growing clout of Russian mercenaries on the continent.

The European Union will offer several packages of support at the summit to bolster health, education and stability in Africa and will pledge half of a new €300 billion investment drive launched to rival China's Belt and Road Initiative.

The EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, said ahead of the two-day meeting, postponed from 2020 because of the pandemic, that the two continents were closely interlinked.

"African problems are our problems," he told the European parliament on Tuesday. "When we work to try to solve these problems, we work for ourselves as well."

"Our common ambition, Africans and Europeans, for this summit, is to achieve a renewed, modernised and more action-oriented partnership," said Senegal's President Macky Sall, who currently chairs the African Union.

President Emmanuel Macron of France, whose country holds the European Union's rotating presidency, hopes the first joint summit since 2017 can burnish his grand ambition of forging an "economic and financial New Deal with Africa".

The EU is aiming to convince the 40 African leaders in Brussels that Europe is their "most reliable partner" by fleshing out an investment initiative that aims to mobilise €150 billion ($170 billion) of public and private funds over the next seven years.

The scheme is the first regional part of the EU's Global Gateway, a €300-billion ($340 billion) worldwide investment blueprint meant to rival China's Belt and Road initiative.

The EU is eyeing a dozen ambitious projects to bolster internet access, transport links and renewable energy as it seeks to provide an alternative to cheap loans from Beijing.

But details on funding remain vague and the projects are still to be agreed on with the African side.

African leaders are instead pushing for a far more concrete step of getting EU nations to allow the International Monetary Fund to allocate tens of billions of dollars in further aid.

Coups, mercenaries, Mali

The summit, which will involve a series of roundtable discussions, comes at a worrying time for the continent after a wave of military coups in West Africa and as the whole of the Horn of Africa region is wracked by conflict.

Burkina Faso last month joined Guinea, Mali and Sudan as the fourth country frozen out by the AU after disgruntled soldiers toppled the elected president.

Those four will not be represented in Brussels.

As Europe grapples with a feared Russian invasion of Ukraine, it is also unsettled by the rising clout of Russian mercenaries in some of Africa's most volatile hotspots.

Shadowy paramilitary outfit Wagner, alleged to have close ties to the Kremlin, is accused of bolstering Moscow's geopolitical ambitions.

Western nations have condemned the reported arrival of its mercenaries in Mali's capital Bamako to help protect a junta that seized power last year. Mali's rulers deny hiring Wagner.

Macron is looking to redeploy France's forces in Mali to elsewhere in the Sahel, mostly in Niger, amid the breakdown in ties, ending a nine-year mission there battling jihadists.

European governments fear turmoil among the region's rulers risks leaving a vacuum that movements tied to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (ISIS) extremist group could exploit.

An EU official said that in a bid to bolster broader stability, the EU planned to increase funding for African Union peacekeeping missions across the continent.

In 2018, the minimum wage committee decided to raise the minimum wage in 2018 by 16.4% from the previous year to 7,530 won ($6.65 USD) an hour. This is the largest increase (1060 won) since 2001 (16.8 percent). The effectiveness and feasibility of minimum wage increases are greatly debated topics.

In addition to meeting with Uganda's leader, President Park Geun-hye also found time to launch a Korea-Uganda business forum on Sunday.
More than two-hundred business leaders from the two countries were in attendance to discuss the potential opportunities.
Kwon Jang-ho reports.
Like the speedy impala, President Park said she hoped Korean and Ugandan businesses could find quick success working together.
President Park launched the latest bilateral business forum on Sunday, bringing together some 250 business leaders from the two countries.
Seventy-two Korean businesses were in attendance, representing industries ranging from engineering to medical and bio tech.
President Park expressed her hope that through the exchange, the two countries can help each other in various ways, including agricultural development.

"As you all know, for the last 70 years Korea has experienced successful agricultural development and advancement through the Saemaeul Undong rural development movement. If it were to be comprehensively implemented here as well, then I am positive that Uganda can become the breadbasket of Africa."
, 70 ... , .

The president also said she is looking forward to Korea's involvement in Uganda's infrastructure projects, such as airports, energy and ICT, in addition to expanding Korea's presence in the medical and content industries.
This is the latest in a series of business forums that have been arranged for President Park's swing through East Africa to increase trade ties in the region.
Korea is considered a latecomer as countries like China and Japan have already made inroads there, but joining the action doesn't come without risks.

"Of course Africa has many promises, but it also has its problems, like shortage of infrastructure, even electricity is not available everywhere. But I would say that kind of problem can be overcome and we can see examples of other companies from other countries doing their business successfully in the African continent."

There are already signs of solid progress. At a one-on-one business event in Ethiopia on Friday alone, 13 deals worth a total 24 million U.S. dollars were signed.

Uganda's importers and exporters who use the Kenya Mombasa port are happy that Kenyan election ended in harmony with no events of violence.

Through their umbrella Kampala city traders association, traders now want their members to fast track their goods and clear them from the Mombasa port as soon as possible and stock Ugandan markets.

As kennes Bwire reports, traders want the incoming Kenyan government to settle their compensation of 400 million dollars as agreed after losing their commodities in 2007 post election violence.

Paul Kagame secret master plan changed everything! Few people would have imagined that Rwanda economy would become a success story twenty-eight years ago. The country had seen an unfathomably horrific genocide, in which its most capable and educated individuals were cruelly slain. Hundreds of thousands of refugees lived in the country, which was impoverished to the point of starvation. It was landlocked, with turbulent and untrustworthy neighbors like the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and foes like Uganda.
Rwanda, against al odds, has recovered impressively from its catastrophic events. The country is ranked 49th out of 180 nations in Transparency International's annual Corruption Perceptions Index for 2020, making it one of Africa's least corrupt and stable governments. The president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has previously mentioned that he wishes to make Rwanda the "Singapore of Africa".

Join us in our video today, as we discuss Rwanda’s impressive economic development, and its ambition to become the “Singapore of Africa”. Be sure to like, subscribe and comment in the comment section below.
