This is the second part of a three part video series of my adventures in Uganda. Our second stop of the trip was Queen Elizabeth National Park and lovely Marafiki Lodge.
While I was putting the final touches on the editing of this video, I got the news that a pride of 11 lions had been found dead in the park. The investigation of the cause is still ongoing but it's suspected that the deaths are a result of years of conflict with the local villages living in the park. I hope this event and this video will make everyone think about this dilemma and the importance of sustainable nature conservation and sustainable toursim.

Literature has always played a key role in social and political life in Africa, even when it is not deliberately or obviously activist in its aims or form.
African writers like Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Chinua Achebe, Obi Wali and poets Christopher Okigbo and Stella Nyanzi have long been seen as key thinkers and engaged intellectuals.
Tracing this history, this lecture shows how creative work changes society and discusses the role of literary collectives such as Chimureng, Jalada, and Bakwa.

http://www.africa-24.com The South African National Museum of Military History provides a home for the memory and study of all military conflict in which South Africans have partaken. It affords visitors a rare opportunity to view the actual artifacts of our often-turbulent past. The museum is home to a reference library, archives and photographic archives and holds a large and unique collection of books, pamphlets, journals, archival documents, photographs, audio-visuals and maps, with friendly staff to assist information-seekers. Aircraft, armour, artillery, medical, naval and engineering equipment as well as small arms, medals, badges and uniforms are presented, bringing to light new information about specimens of bygone eras and preserving this knowledge for future generations. In fact, the museum houses some of the rarest military equipment in the world, notably the world-famous Messerschmitt ME262 jet aircraft of World War 2.

http://www.africa-24.com Capricorn Model Aircraft Clubs annual get-together held in Polokwane, Limpopo. The club was established in 1972 by Pieter Tiersma, and has since grown to include over 30 members to date. This yearly fly-off event has become hugely popular with members and spectators alike, and for a small entrance fee, you to can marvel at the variety of the remote controlled aircraft and the skill of their pilots. Henko Beyers is rated 25th in the world for model helicopter flying, demonstrating his ability here with a ¼ scale replica of a gas turbine, Hughs 400; the only one of its kind in Africa! The event is open to all model pilots who are registered with the South African Model Aircraft Association, and the Capricorn Model Aircraft club provides free training and support to all its members.
