It's a mix of drama, dance and music that makes a clear point, whether you understand the local language, or not.

We're at the 10th Edition of the Festival Rythmes et Formes du Monde, a performance art, music and dance show happening at the Art Hotels of Sobo Bade and L'Engouement in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal.

Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre Complex came through with flying colours when it hosted the 2022 Africa’s Travel Indaba from the 2nd-5th of May 2022, and proved it has not lost the touch as a world-class business meeting venue.

With good governance, policy alignment and rigorous oversight, the award-winning Durban ICC met all the requirements for achieving success and sustaining its legacy as Africa’s leading convention venue.

As a young teenager, Filipe Faria had a fascination with Africa and was determined to live and work there as an adult. Due to his love of travel, he became a pilot which eventually allowed him to work for Doctors Without Borders in the Congo in 2000-2001. Within months of being there, Filipe was temporarily taken hostage by a group of child soldiers. In 2020, he is talking about it.

Despite this unfortunate turn of events, Filipe continued to have a passion for Africa. He returned in 2009 for Le Festival au Desert, a massive three day music festival outside of Timbuktu in Mali. This was no small feat to get there, and to get out of there.

Born in Scotland and a graduate of Edinburgh University, Fiona Jeffery has had a long and accomplished career working in the travel industry, responsible for World Travel Market (WTM) from 1986-2013 both as Managing Director and ultimately as Chairman.

She created and launched a responsible tourism drive across the industry globally, World Responsible Tourism Day in association with the UNWTO, which is now the largest responsible tourism gathering across the world. And launched the very first Ministerial Summit bringing the public and private sectors together to debate, discuss and shape the industry.

Fiona, as a member of the UNWTO World Committee for Tourism Ethics successfully got agreement at the UN General Assembly to convert the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics into a legally binding Convention. A former Chair of WTTC’s Tourism for Tomorrow Programme and current Chair of Africa Travel & Tourism Association she also sits on the Advisory Board for School of Hospitality and Tourism at Surrey University and is a Senior Partner for Finn Partners Global Sustainable Tourism PR Practice.

In 2012, Fiona was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen for services to travel and tourism, and in 2013 received the TTG Contribution to Industry Award and the World Tourism Award for her philanthropic vision in creating Just a Drop. She was recognized in the Directory of Social Change Influencer Awards in 2015 and is to be inducted into the Travel and Hospitality Industry Hall of Fame in 2020.

Week one of the adventure and Nathans introduction to Uganda was immediate and exciting:) Quickly getting to grips with Boda Bike rides and the dusty roads, we explored the village meeting new and old friends.

With some very early mornings to capture the sunrise over the River Nile, watching fisherman appear through the mist and kingfishers diving for their first meals of the day was a truly awesome and a wonderful time to photograph.

Heading to the markets of Jinja to embrace and photograph produce and portraits of the friendly, fun and very welcoming locals is a very real experience. One of my favorite parts of this week was to interact with so many local photographers at the print labs and on the streets.
