South Africans should brace themselves for another interest rate hike this week. Economists expect at least a 50 basis point increase when the Reserve Bank's Monetary Policy Committee announces its decision on Thursday. This is on the back of rising inflation and developed countries' central banks raising interest rates.

Colonization has pushed African cuisine into the shadows. These chefs, farmers, and business owners are on a mission to put it in the spotlight.

Often the continent of Africa conjures images of starvation, when in reality the African diet is perhaps the most balanced diet in the world, packed with nutrient-dense foods like cassava, fonio, leafy greens, and vibrant vegetables.

So why is there such a disparity between reputation and reality? Colonization has pushed African cuisine and crops into the shadows. For too long, African food has been undervalued.

These chefs, farmers, and entrepreneurs are combining new technology with traditional farming methods to increase yields in the face of climate change, enhance global awareness about the history and value of African food and ultimately create jobs and wealth.

The Nigerian government has been asked to consider assisting other West African countries where there are still Ebola cases to ensure that the containment efforts in Nigeria were not overturned by new cases.

Ahead of the proposed resumption of schools on September 22, the President, Proprietors of Private Schools in Lagos State, Yomi Otubela, made the suggestion on Sunday on Channels Television's programme, Rubbin' Minds.

Mr Otubela stressed that if the Ebola cases in other West African countries are not contained, there are chances that another person already infected could come into Nigeria.

He pointed out that most private schools in Lagos State had put in place, facilities that would encourage regular hand washing and other good hygiene habits.

Horrific images that have left the entire world shocked and disgusted.

On Saturday many Israelis woke up to sirens after rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip.

Good Evening and Welcome to Unfiltered. I'm Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh.

In response to the attack, Israel launched its own attack, with its jets bombing the Gaza Strip.

Tonight we ask: How should South Africa respond to the escalating Israeli-Palestinian Conflict?

Joining us for this conversation in the studio are Zane Dangor, Director General from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Africa for Peace Head Coordinator Klaas Mokgomole, and Usuf Chikte from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and on Zoom we have Daniel Levy, President of the US Middle East Project and a former Israel peace negotiator and advisor in the Israeli prime minister's office.

BBC Africa Eye explores the impact of ‘The Baby Stealers’ investigation in Kenya’s fight against child trafficking.

In 2020, #BBCAfricaEye exposed a network of child traffickers who preyed upon some of Kenya’s most vulnerable women. The traffickers ranged from homeless drug addicts to organised criminals and even corrupt medical staff. At the time, our undercover investigators managed to infiltrate underground rings selling stolen children for as little as 400 USD. After the broadcast of the ‘The Baby Stealers’, officials made public promises of firm government action and some of those involved in the underground trade were arrested.

Three years on, Africa Eye reporter Njeri Mwangi revisits some of Nairobi’s poorest neighbourhoods to find out how much impact the film had in the fight against child trafficking in Kenya. Has justice been served? And how much have things really changed since?

African Countries Ready to Drop The Dollar.

The US dollar is the world's reserve currency, meaning that it is the most widely used currency in international trade and finance. However, several African countries are considering dropping the dollar in favor of their own currencies or regional currencies. African countries are now more willing to take steps to free themselves from American influence by strengthening their national currencies or developing new currencies that would be utilized for intra-continental commerce as a result of the US dollar's declining significance in international trade. So, in this video, we are going to be telling you why African countries are dropping the dollar and some particular people fighting for this to be implemented. Let’s begin!

President William Ruto of Kenya is quickly gaining a lot of fans after he has been speaking against the US dollar on several occasions. Ruto urged African countries to stop trading with the U.S. dollar for cross-border transactions.

He questioned the usage of the dollar in international trade and urged African countries to make payments in their local currencies. The President emphasized that Kenya has no justification for using the dollar to settle trade agreements with other African countries.
