About the Kolisi Foundation 16 days of Activism Campaign
Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it.
We are reminded of the words of our co-founder, Siya Kolisi, to use August as our audit month as the work should be done every day for 365 days.
During 16 days of Activism we will be taking hands with organisations in the GBV space by focusing on amplifying the work they are doing.
Our vision is to create a hub for helping organisations to build capacity, in order for people to find each other, create synergies, provide support and work better together. We cannot win the fight against GBV if we operate with a silo mentality.
Over the next few days, we will introduce you to these organisations. Take this opportunity to learn from and about them, understand the role they are playing in the space and how you can engage with them…

SYNOPSIS
Set in fifteenth-century West Africa, Malika: Warrior Queen follows the exploits of Queen and military commander, Malika, who struggles to keep the peace in her ever-expanding empire. Growing up as a prodigy, Malika inherited the crown from her father in the most unusual of circumstances, splitting the Kingdom of Azzaz in half. After years of civil war, Malika was able to unite all of Azzaz, expanding it into one of the largest empires in all of West Africa.
But expansion would not come without its costs. Enemies begin to rise within her council, and Azzaz grabbed the attention of the most feared superpower the world has ever known: the Songhai Empire. As Malika fights to win the clandestine civil war within the walls of her empire, she must now turn her attention to an indomitable and treacherous foe that plans to vanquish her entire people. From dragons to mythical relics, a feuding royal family and magical swords, the story of Malika: Warrior Queen stays true to the fantasy genre while adding something new by setting familiar concepts in an awe-inspiring African setting.
President Bola Tinubu has also directed the opening of Nigeria's land and air borders with the Republic of Niger and the lifting of other sanctions against the country with immediate effect.
In a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, this directive is in compliance with the decisions of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, at its extraordinary summit held last month in Abuja where the leaders agreed to lift economic sanctions against the Republic of Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea

of Chad ended in December after the intervention of Libyan troops on the side of
President Goukouni Oueddei. Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi then spoke openly about
a merger between the two neighbouring countries, causing concern in some quarters
about Libyan ambitions. Libya has withdrawn some of its troops, but it still has
great influence in Chad, which is virtually bankrupt.

Jonas Savimbi was a controversial figure in Angola's history and the leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola, known as UNITA. It was a rebel group that fought against the ruling government from the 19 60s until his death. His leadership was characterized by his charisma, military prowess, and a brutal campaign of violence and terror against the ruling government.
Despite this, he was seen by some as a charismatic leader who was fighting for the rights of the Angolan people and received support from the United States and other Western countries.
