Angola , officially the Republic of Angola , is a country on the west coast of Southern Africa.

It is the seventh-largest country in Africa, bordered by Namibia to the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Zambia to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

Angola has an exclave province, the province of Cabinda that borders the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The capital and largest city of Angola is Luanda.

The territory of Angola has been inhabited since the Paleolithic Era, hosting a wide variety of ethnic groups, tribes and kingdoms.

The nation state of Angola originated from Portuguese colonisation, which initially began with coastal settlements and trading posts founded in the 16th century.

In the 19th century, European settlers gradually began to establish themselves in the interior.

The Portuguese colony that became Angola did not have its present borders until the early 20th century because of resistance by groups such as the Cuamato, the Kwanyama and the Mbunda.

After a protracted anti-colonial struggle, independence was achieved in 1975 as the Marxist–Leninist People's Republic of Angola, a one-party state supported by the Soviet Union and Cuba.

The civil war between the ruling People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola and the insurgent anti-communist National Union for the Total Independence of Angola , supported by the United States and apartheid South Africa, lasted until 2002.

The sovereign state has since become a relatively stable unitary, presidential constitutional republic.

Angola's economic growth is highly uneven, with most of the nation's wealth concentrated in a disproportionately small sector of the population

The history of the Comoros extends to about 1000 BC when the archipelago was first inhabited. The Comoros have been inhabited by various groups throughout this time. France colonised the islands in the 19th century, and they became independent in 1975.
Early inhabitants
The earliest inhabitants of the islands were likely people from the Swahili culture from as early as 1000 BC, small trading communities of Bantu-speakers from the coasts of East Africa.
In the 8th to 13th centuries AD they were followed by an influx of Austronesian sailors from Southeast Asia, who had earlier settled nearby Madagascar. They are the source for the earliest archeological evidence of farming in the islands. Crops from archeological sites in Sima are predominantly rice strains of both indica and japonica varieties from Southeast Asia, as well as various other Asian crops like mung bean and cotton. Only a minority of the examined crops were African-derived, like finger millet, African sorghum, and cowpea. The Comoros are believed to be the first site of contact and subsequent admixture between African and Asian populations . Comorians today still display at most 20% Austronesian admixture.

From around the 15th century AD, Shirazi slave traders established trading ports and brought in slaves from the mainland. In the 16th century, social changes on the East African coast probably linked to the arrival of the Portuguese saw the arrival of a number of Arabs of Hadrami who established alliances with the Shirazis and founded several royal clans.

Over the centuries, the Comoros have been settled by a succession of diverse groups from the coast of Africa, the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia and Madagascar.

Europeans
Portuguese explorers first visited the archipelago in 1505.

Apart from a visit by the French Parmentier brothers in 1529, for much of the 16th century the only Europeans to visit the islands were Portuguese. British and Dutch ships began arriving around the start of the 17th century and the island of Ndzwani soon became a major supply point on the route to the East Indies. Ndzwani was generally ruled by a single sultan, who occasionally attempted to extend his authority to Mayotte and Mwali; Ngazidja was more fragmented, on occasion being divided into as many as 12 small kingdoms.

From Aboabo on the Eastern by pass , we passed the Ghana Water Company , DVLA-Kumasi, the Kumasi Airport roundabout to the PV Obeng by pass ,through Jofel Catering services, Hotel de Plaza to Dichemso and Krofrom where we saw the Krofrom Market.

From Krofrom through CPC to Suame roundabout, we branched onto the N10 Kumasi Techiman road passing the Suame Police station, the Ghana Water Company to Suame to Tarkwa Markro Anomanye Junction.

From Breman to Offinso, we drove passed towns like Kronum, Afrancho, Buoho, Kodie, Denase, Akom ,CEPS and Ahenkro.

From Offinso to Techiman , we drove passed towns like Adukro, Namong, Sakam, Anyinasuso, Awisem, Sampraso, Camp, Abrokyire, Koforidua, Abofour, Niikwaakwa, Nkwankwa , Asempanaye,Asuoso, Kobreso, Darso Daaso, Nkenkaasu, Akomadan, Afrancho, Ahyiayemu , Tanoso, Danso, Tadieso and Hansua.

Institutions and Healthcares along the n10 Kumasi Techiman road include Offinso Primary school, Return Herbal center, Denase Methodist jhs, Buoho SDA church,Kronum Market, Suame Market, Wesley University college of Education, Dwamena Akenten Senior High school,SDA hospital Namong, Dominican school namong, immaculate Heart of Mary school namong, Koforidua M/A primary school, Abofour new Market, Abofour R/C primary and Jhs, Nkwankwaa D/A Primary school, Nkwankwaa Health centre, Asuoo Senior High school, Nkenkaasu Government Hospital, Ghana National Ambulance Service (NAS) Prehospital Emergency Care Training School ( PECTS), Nkenkaasu Community Senior High school, Nac International Hotel, Akumadan senior high school, Wiafe Akenten Presby Senior High Technical, Kwarteng Ankomah Senior High School, St James Roman Catholic Church Hansua, Mount Carmel Girls senior High school, Encom Hotel and Techiman Senior High School.

The road from Kumasi to Techiman is very friendly but we saw a truck accident along the way at Tanoso so care should be taken when driving for a longer distance.

Determined to not let the lack of clothing and toiletries affect the start to my travels in East Africa, I headed out early and walked the road from my hotel to the centre of capital city, Moroni.

Along the way I met some of the Comorian people and even stopped off to watch a group of them play football on one of the most interesting pitches I’ve ever seen.

Nicknamed “The Black Mr. Rogers”, Joseph Williams is a community activist and violence interrupter from Englewood on the South Side of Chicago. The father of five is the founder of Mr. Dad's Father's Club, an organization he created in 2017 centered around literacy to help foster engagement between fathers and their children, and the community in partnership with Chicago Public Schools.

As a community activist, Joseph often leads efforts to increase community engagement that reduces violence and creates a safe space for children. Since the start of the pandemic, he has led efforts to create a youth march, hosted a back to school community drive and is currently working to bring a community garden to the area.

In conversation with Michael Strautmanis, Chief Engagement Officer at the Obama Foundation, Joseph opens up about his community activism and a recent moment where he viral after stepping in to defuse a tense standoff between police officers and community members.
