Off the West Cost of Africa, about 5 hours from our base in the UK, lies the tiny Archipelago nation of Cape Verde, one of Europe's last hidden diving gems.

Very few people visit Cape Verde every year, and even fewer dive while there. But dive under the waves, and the curious diver will find an amazing abundance of marine life not commonly associated with the temperate Atlantic waters.

Big, reef and macro are all present with pelagic like Sand Tiger Sharks, Nurse Sharks and Manta rays being common sightings. The reef is reminiscent of something out of Asia with gorgeous Butterfly Fish, Angel Fish, Parrot and Damsel Fish all calling the local sites their home. For those with a keen eye, Dragon Moray, Arrow Crabs, and an abundance of Nudi Branchs are waiting to be discovered.

Even for seasoned divers like ourselves, we can highly recommend Cape Verde as a dive spot.

Wonderful Viveiro Botanical Garden and Animal Park, where flora and fauna live together in harmony. The one and only Botanical Garden of Cape Verde.

An oasis on the desert island of Sal, where you can enjoy some peace, know the local flora and fauna, pet the lovely animals (they all live at the park for a reason...ask the staff if you are interested about them ☺️), enjoy a natural juice at the Pachamama Cafe. The aim of the park is giving the possibility to people to reconnect with Nature...Mother Earth...Pachamama

In all of recorded history, lemon sharks have only ever bitten humans on 10 occasions - and none of these were life-threatening. These small sharks usually just go about their own business, making them a fantastic shark to swim with and observe (unobtrusively, of course - don't try to touch the sharks, don't follow them around, don't bother them in any way, don't litter their ocean, and use reef-safe sunscreen ❤️)
