Koranteng is Miss Universe Ghana 2009
Debrah Ameyaw, VoicesofAfrica alumnus in Accra, Ghana (29 June 2009) Ghana has selected the beautiful and articulate 22 year old graduate of the University of Ghana (Psychology Major), Jennifer Victoria Koranteng as its representative to the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant to be held in the beautiful Paradise Island in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, on August 23 2009.
After several rounds of tests on individual presentation, personality, physical fitness, composure and grace, as well general intelligence, Jennifer scored the most points beating Suzanna Naa Amuah Alberto Darko and Daphne Grace Allotey to 2nd runner-up and 1st runner-up positions respectively. The other contestants were Angela Effum and Matilda Hammond.
The producers of the Miss Universe Ghana stated, 'After weeks of scouting by our scouting and Public Relations professionals from Jon Williams, we are excited to present a remarkable Ghanaian woman, who we are confident, will make a bold statement for Ghana at the international event. We are looking forward to a strong presence at the Miss Universe Pageant, and commend the judges for selecting a young woman who is indeed the quintessence of Ghanaian femininity'.
According to Jennifer, she would love to use her voice and new status to support the needy in society and to spell out the importance of education particularly for the girl-child. 'I'm expecting to put Ghana on the map and to do very well. So people would know that Ghana is not only a land of gold and timber but also a land of great beauties', comments Jennifer.
